THE MARAUDER ERA 1971-1978
Note to anyone reading this; this is my version and my fantasy of Harry Potter, no this is not a cross over although I like to do connections with what I think fits perfectly with the characters. I'd like for you not to judge my work to quickly and if you don't like it really just stop reading. If you do like my ideas or think I should keep working on some please feel free to write me. I love writing and I'd like your help to do it better. Now enough blah blah and enjoy! (other time line story like this might follow!)
It was the middle of October 1978 when Severus got to school. He was thinking about the looks he would get behind the doors of the Great Hall. The morning was chilly even though the boy did not feel it, he shivered and pushed the double doors open. Silence fell over all the tables. Naturally, rumors had already spread through the school has the reason why Snevelus was not on the train nearly two months ago.
With his hair tied up in a low ponytail and his eyes lost in the past, Severus walked toward the Slytherin table. Noises soon filled the air again, especially from the Gryffindors. Sirius Black was getting everyone's attention by mocking Severus while James was glaring at his friend.
"Hey Severus! How are you feeling? You weren't on the train, it worried me." said Lucius Malfoy, Severus' dearest friend and brother.
"I'm okay. But my father was not really convinced I should attempt school anymore. After mom's death this summer he became... over protective of his family."
Lucius laughed. " Like he wasn't like that before!"
"Yeah well, it's worse now. He forbade my brothers to go out the castle. Not even for a horse ride. How hard do you think it was to convince him to let me go from Romania?"
"I told you my father would take you in anytime if you would just write him a letter!" replied Lucius slightly angry.
"I know, Lucius. But I feel more like a burden then anything else." Severus said in a quiet voice.
A young woman with black and curly hair went to stand beside the two boys, hands on her hips. "Severus Silvestus Prince Dracul!" the boy in question startled. "Where have you been? No letters, no news, nothing! We were worried sick! And I bet you haven't fed either before getting here!"
In a sigh, Severus shook his head. "Hey Bella. I'm glad to see you too..."
"You could've written to me! After what happened I was afraid you might have-"
"What?" he said angry. "That I might have taken my own life like she did?"
"Bella, don't." said Lucius quietly and looking around. "He doesn't need this right now and people are watching. Later."
Bellatrix send him a pitiful look just for a brief moment and she turned around and walked away. She sat next of an other girl that looked like her. The rest of breafast was like it always was: noisy and pranks done to the Snakes when the teachers were not looking. "Home, sweet home." murmured Severus as he got up to go to class. Lucius, and a smal group of Slytherins followed him as they have one motto: Always stay together, it's three against one out there. On their way out, a beautiful red headed girl stepped in front of them. "Lily!" he looked surprise to even see her.
"I- James told me about you mom. I wanted to give you my condolences."
"Potter told you?" he asked in disbelief, glacing at his nemesis who, for some odd reason, seemed to be arguing with Sirius.
"Yeah well, I guess being Headboy got him to grow up. Anyway, we are not becoming friends again but I knew your mom so- I am very sorry for your loss." and she walked away.
Severus looked confuse and give a glance at the blond boy beside him. "What just happened?"
"I have no idea. Thought she hated you after last year." replied Lucius, shuddering.
Severus was relieved when he got to class. Everything about that classroom was soothing, nothing could calm him as much as potions. His mother had died during the summer and here he was doing what she taught him. Somehow he felt connected to her. He sat with his best friend at the front. Severus smirked slightly. He was back in Potion, back with his friends, Lucius by his side watching his back more than ever, Lily had talked to him and even James Potter gave him some slack. Maybe this year won't be so bad after all. He thought with hope.
Horace Slughorn, the Potion teacher and Slytherin Head of House, entered the classroom with what looked like a headache. This was sign of bad news and everyone knew it. "As you may already know, Professor Dumbledore wants to prone House-Bonding. So, your moron of Headmaster had the worse idea of the century after an idiot told him he should become a teacher- sorry getting away of the subject. So! The teams this year will be interhouse and he made the teams already, if you have complaints please target him and not me, I am just the messenger." Protests broke from everyone. No one was happy about this news. Slughorn cleared his throat. "When I call you and your partner, please pair up." he looked at the piece of paper he had been holding and swalloed. "Mr. Malfoy and Mr. Lupin."
"What?" Lucius screamed and looked suddenly a lot paler than usual. He turned his head toward Remus who was grinning. "I'll never get out of this class alive."
"Mr. Lestrange- I mean Rodolfus, not you Rabastian- and Mr. Potter. The next pair is" when the teacher looks on the verge to faint, you know hell is being unleash. "Mr. Snape and Mr. Black."
Obviously I jinxed it!
Severus looked at Lucius. "I'll change my partner for the werewolf anytime! A dog for a dog, fair deal, no?"
Lucius didn't know who between Remus and Sirius he was the most afraid of. "Only if you do the Quidditch tryouts."
"Forget it I am never getting on a broom again. I rather Black." said Severus as he went to Sirius' table.
"Your funeral. Say hi to mom for me." Lucius called after him.
"No problem..."
And finally the last pair came up. "Mr. Macnair and Ms. Evans."
Macnair approached Lily with a grin on his face. Severus tried to stop him but it was already too late. "Hey gorgeous, looks like we're a team now-"
Her response was clear enough: she did not want to be his partner. She punched him so hard he fell backwards with a broken nose. "Don't call me gorgeous, don't look at me and don't touch me. In fact, don't bother talking to me. Ever!" she said and sat down.
The teacher sighed. "Mr. Macnair, got to the infirmary, thank you."
Potion was hell. Everyone argued with their team mates and messed up each other's potion. When the class was over, Severus waited for Lucius. "I never thought I'd say this in my life but I think I hate Potion. Black is crazy!"
"You are lucky he's just crazy! Lupin spend the entire time growling at me everytime I moved! I was sure he was going to bite me at some point! And it's not like I don't know how to make potions! I'm even better than him!"
They kept talking about their aweful experience while walking for the next class, crossing outside in the cold air of fall. Severus could feel everyone looking at them. Usually it wasn't strange but now they seemed more like pray birds. "What happened while I wasn't here, Lucius?"
"What makes you think something happened?" he answered.
"Because usually the other houses don't pry so much."
"I-I got into a fight." confessed Lucius.
"With who?" asked his friend, shocked. Lucius never fought. Not physically anyway. He always said that it was too barbaric, primitive and that it will just mess up his face and hair. Bloody elves and their appearences. Lucius might just be part elf but he is still royalty.
"Black. Lupin. Potter actually stopped them, surprisingly enough."
"You took those two alone? Are you insane?"
" Just drop it already, okay? It is not worth talking about. I was uncounscious for a week after that. But they got undetermine detention." he smirked.
They had reach the other side of the small courtyard. They headed for the astronomy tower. "No, wait! I want to know what they did to make YOU fight. You never do and even stop me from doing so." said the black eyed boy, worried.
"Severus I-" he sighed. " Look, Black was picking on Bella because he wanted to know why you weren't on the train and- I made the mistake of interfering and it did not end up well."
Severus didn't ask Lucius again about it.
The rest of the day was not so bad, it passed slowly as usual but no more incidents between the Gryffindors and Slytherins. After the last class, Lucius and some others of their house bolted out as if fiendfire was on their heels. Puzzled, Severus followed them slowly and then he remembered. Of course! Today is the Quidditch tryouts for Slytherins. It's a big deal for Lucius, mainely because he is Captain this year. And I have been complaining and mourning all day... what a friend... I couldn't be self-centered another day? He sighed and went to the stadium. When he arrive almost all the Slytherins were they, weather they were playing or not.
He sat down near the team and saw there were new recruits and some old ones that keep saying its the last year they play and always came back. Severus called the Wanna Be Retreated. A lot of the members of the team graduated the year before so Lucius was left with a lot of openings. Lucius was a Player since before he could walk. His dad had build a quidditch pit in their backyard so Lucius could practice. The Narcissa and Bellatrix Black were Beaters and their little brother, Regulus, played Seeker. Normally Macnair played as a Keeper but it would seem to everyone that he was still bloody from his encounter with a certain ginger head.
