What is chakra? When I say chakra, I don't mean real chakra; I mean Kishimoto's chakra. Here, I shall discuss the fundamentals of chakra, the manipulation of chakra, and even the practical, real-life possibilities of chakra.
The fundamentals of chakra are easy to understand. Chakra is the combination of physical and spiritual energies. I believe that the physical energy is measured by the individuals adrenaline. A class example is Naruto being excessively hyper compared to others and has more chakra, as well. Kakashi is a battle-hardened veteran, therefore has grown out his adrenaline reserves from constantly pumping adrenaline during combat. Spiritual energy is the will exacted upon the adrenaline. This would explain why untrained civilians are unable to use ninjutsu. Quite simply, chakra is created by concentrating on your adrenal glands and focusing on pumping your adrenaline.
The manipulation of chakra is slightly more difficult. As explained by the Hyuga, there are roughly 361 Tenketsu in the average human body. There are twelve standard hand-signs named after the Chinese Zodiac. Now, any human can form the hand-signs, but then their existence would be pointless. Assume there are Tenketsu strewn throughout the hands. The Tenketsu, when joined together form the significant hand-sign. It would be assumed that the connected points would appear similar to the constellations. In retrospect, this would explain the inability of Rock Lee to perform Ninjutsu and Genjutsu. He must not have any Tenketsu in his hands. Further study of the hand-seals is required.
The practical uses of chakra are limited. In real life, humans can pull on their adrenaline; in this situation, humans do have a tendency to display more physical energy. This is represented by bursts of speed, boosted strength, and a focus strain on the eyes. The force of will exhibited by humans in real life is much more complex. I would be tempted to say this is impossible to use, but there are known cases throughout the world of people doing things such as reading minds, forcing objects through a form of telekinesis and such. Actual manipulation of chakra simply doesn't exist.
