Will was in her room, with a book and large frog. Somehow the principal had convinced her that if she participated in the school dance show, it would make up all the detention she had on her record. She was signed up to learn the tango and had no clue how to do dance. The book was called "It Takes Two to Tango" and the frog was her dance partner. After trying for a few minutes longer she gave up and fell onto her bed. "Forget this." She muttered into her pillow. "How the heck am I supposed to learn this in 3 days, much less find a partner?" She sat backup and dialed Hay Lin's number. "Hay Lin? Does your Gran know how to dance still?" Hay Lin giggled. "Having trouble with your dance number?" Will rolled her eyes. "Yeah, and I'm totally hopeless without a partner." Hay Lin laughed. "Come on over. Gran will teach you."
Will walked through the door of the Silver Dragon and immediately felt better. Something about the smell of rice and curry was so relaxing. She headed down to the basement and found Hay Lin, Gran, and Caleb waiting for her. "Nice to see you Will. Would you mid transforming temporarily? It would be most useful." Will quickly changed to Guardian form. After the light faded away, Gran began. "Now I want you to float. Feel that lightness? Now change back, but keep that light feeling." Will tried, and felt a little lighter. Gran turned to Caleb. "Now you ask her to dance." Caleb jumped. "WHAT??!!" Gran swatted his arm. "Don't stand there like a fish, ask her!" Caleb walked over to her, looking at the floor. "Do you want to dance?" he muttered out of the side of his mouth. Will smiled. "Sure." He took her hands awkwardly and they stood in the middle of the basement. Gran arranged their hands and then turned on the music. "Follow the music." She said.
Then she turned and left them, locking the door as she left. Hay Lin kicked back on the stairs, lost in a new drawing. They both tried to take a step forward and ran into each other. Caleb kept her pulled close. "I think you should go right and I'll go left." He whispered. She nodded, unable to say much. Cornelia was going to kill her. They swayed around the room for a few minutes before he spoke again. "I'm going to try dipping you now okay?" He spun her out, then caught her left hand and dipped her. He head was hanging down and when he pulled her back up he did it slowly so that she didn't hurt herself. The music changed to something softer, slower. She swayed along with him. At the very end, he kissed her. Sweet and gentle. Will felt goose bumps flying along her arms from it. Unlike kissing Matt, this was tender. Not like getting your nose squished cause the boy you were kissing had no aim.
Hay Lin watched them kiss, long since forgotten on the stairs. She was finishing up her drawing of Will and Caleb. It showed them in formal wear, dancing. They were in the middle of a dip, and somehow, in a way that only Hay Lin could, she had captured the look of affection in their eyes.
