Rosepelt paced back and forth, tail lashing from side to side. When were Thunderclan going to see sense? A soft growl rose from her chest. Brownstripe, one of the toms guarding the entrance, whipped around and spat at her. She recoiled as if he had clawed her face. They had been apprentices together, so close. What was she to him now? She didn't even know what she was to herself anymore. Outside she could hear Firestar yowl "Let all those cats old enough to catch their own prey join here beneath the Highrock for a Clan meeting." She could hear the cats gathering, their scents mingling into one giant Thunderclan stench. After the noise died down, Firestar cleared his throat. "I have summoned you here today, not for a joyous occasion, but one of great sorrow." He began, his voice ringing over the camp. Anxious murmurs rose from the crowd, but were silenced with a swish of Firestar's tail. He continued, "As you all know, Daisytail's three kits, Birchkit, Meadowkit and Vinekit went missing yesterday… Whilst on patrol today, me, Brackenfur and Sandstorm came across something I never wanted to see again. A cat from our own clan had fed them deathberries." Firestar was interrupted by a grief stricken wail. Daisytail stood up, fur bristling, but her eyes were unseeing. "I'll kill them…" she hissed. "I'LL KILL THEM!" the cats sat around her flinched. She looked possessed, ears laid flat on her head, eyes bulging. She was wheezing. She suddenly lept onto the Highrock. Cats in the crowd gasped. No one ever lept onto the Highrock during a meeting, or ever. Stalking over to Firestar, she drew herself up. "WHO?" she yowled. "WHOOOOO?" Firestar swallowed nervously. He had never anticipated this. Looking into her yellow eyes, beyond the insanity, beyond the fury, he could see grief. Pure, unconcealed, grief. "Daisytail…" he murmured, voice cracking. "I…it was Rosepelt…"
