"Cloud! Look out!" Aeris cried, watching in horror as the Jenova creature raised its tentacle and struck the blonde across the chest, sending him into the wall with tremendous force. Without thinking, she raced over to where his body lay motionless, ignoring Red's cries of protest.

She turned him over onto his back, a concerned frown appearing on her face as she watched blood trickle down from his temple. She gently placed her hand on the wound and closed her eyes, allowing the Planet's energy to fill her soul. Her hands lit up in a faded green light and within seconds, the blood flow stopped and he gave a soft groan, opening his eyes slightly.

However, Aeris didn't have time to react as Red had just dodged another of Jenova's attacks and the tentacle was aiming for her. She barely had time to duck out of the way before it crashed into the wall of the ship, sending the storage boxes to fly across the room in scattered pieces.

She gave the creature a glare before taking out one of her materia orbs. She held it tightly in her hand, watching Red run in every direction trying to avoid the attacks. As soon as she felt the energy reach its peak, she opened her palm and allowed the fire spell to take its form.

The flames soared to the ceiling for a moment before changing direction and striking the creature. It gave a sharp cry of pain and the firewolf took his chance to leap up onto its head and dig his claws into the neck. Aeris gave a disgusted sound as green blood splattered everywhere but she was soon distracted when she heard shuffling behind her and turned in time to see Cloud getting to his feet.

She ran over to him and took his hand in comfort, earning a small blush from him. He didn't try to remove it though. She placed a hand against his forehead, giving a small, satisfied smile.

"You'll be fine," she whispered gently turning to face Red who had just joined them. She could see where Jenova had fallen, a rotting smell filling the room.

"Come on," the firewolf said eventually.

"I still can't believe that Sephiroth would…" Cloud began but broke off with a shake of his head. Aeris gave a sympathetic smile.

"It'll be okay Cloud," she assured him, squeezing his hand gently. "I know it will."

He locked eyes with her and gave her one of his rare, genuine smiles.

"Yeah, I think it will."
