Nodoka unlocked the door and walked into the empty dorm room, hanging her bag on the hooks behind the door she kicked her shoes into the closet and looked around the room. Her eyes fell on the loft where Haruna both slept and worked she shook her head and climbed the ladder. There was paper and pens everywhere. She picked up the spare pages and ordered them placing them on the desk. She placed all the pens back into the large pencil case and shut all of the bottles of ink. The librarian leant over and made her friends messy bed. It wasn't that Haruna was lazy, she just preferred to set priorities and cleaning wasn't usually one of them. Neither was sleeping Nodoka thought as she grabbed a half full mug of cold coffee and tipped it down the sink and placed the cup in the washing up bowl. Haruna's mind was cluttered, full of things she needed to do. Nodoka suspected there was very little order in the mangaka's mind yet she always managed to remember when she had deadlines, even if it was the night before they were due. She also suspected that Haruna was thankful she had someone to pick up after her and tell her when she was forgetting even the most simple of things, like breakfast. Nodoka didn't know how Haruna was going to survive once they graduated.

She climbed back down the ladder, the loft was tidy not that it would picked up some of the half-full juice cartons of the table and emptied the contents down the sink before throwing the cartons away and walking back into the lounge picking up a spare sock and a carelessly thrown tie on the way. She put the sock in the washing basket and the tie in Haruna's closet. She picked up a jacket that had been slung on the back of the sofa and hung it on the coat hooks. Yue tried her best to be tidy but it was just little things like not throwing away a wrapper or leaving her clothes on the floor. Nodoka suspected that Yue's mind was normally elsewhere in the world, always thinking about something; some new fact she'd found; the last book she'd read; Jobs she was going to have to do later on. Yue always had priorities too and there was a lot going on in her brain too, She just managed to organise it a little better than Haruna.

Satisfied that the room was tidy Nodoka sat on her bed and lay back. She hoped her mind was as tidy as she liked the rest of her life, she organised things the way she wanted to. Like her mind was full of folders for keeping things. There was something about her mind though, like one of the folders was locked away for safe-keeping. She didn't feel jealousy and there were some things she didn't understand but in the end she counted that as a blessing sometimes, she couldn't stand to be jealous of or even be annoyed with Yue. Most people thought she would be but she wasn't, if you couldn't come to terms with your best friend over something like a boy then maybe you weren't really best friends. The trio fit together well. She was always there to pick up after Haruna and she listened to Yue no matter what it was the shorter girl had to say. They all helped each other, they were closer than most sisters sometimes.

They were a family.
