A/N: Okay, so this is my first Oneshot, and my first story for HSM. In this story, Troy and Gabriella are NOT together and never have been! It takes place the summer after senior year in high school… Read, Review, and Enjoy!
The Snack Bar
"I'm going to the snack bar. Anyone wanna come?" I asked my group of friends that were sprawled out on towels and blankets on the warm, New Mexico, sand.
"Yeah, sure. Ice cream sounds good," one of my guy friends, Troy Bolton, replied. He got up off the blanket that he was sitting on with Chad and Taylor, and stood next to me in the sand.
I traced a circle around me with my toe. "Anyone else wanna come?"
They shook their heads and Troy and I took off toward the Snack Bar.
"So, how's your summer going?" He asked me.
"I've been busy, ya know, being the head life guard at Lava Springs for the second summer now."
"Yeah, while you've been chillaxing by the pool, I've been working my butt off teaching little kids how to play basketball in a hot gym."
"Hey! That job is hard!" I gently pushed Troy so that he had to sidestep to avoid falling into the water.
"Just kidding! I know how hard you work," Troy said flashing me one of his smiles that makes me want to melt.
I smiled back looking into amazingly blue eyes. "Yeah, and between that and trying to get ready to head off to college, I've been so busy. I just needed a break from it all."
"That's why you invited all of us here- so you could have a break."
I nodded and looked ahead of us. Good, the snack bar is still a little ways away. "And to hang out with all of you one last time before we go our separate ways."
We walked in silence for a couple minutes, until we reached the snack bar. "But, this summer hasn't been everything I wanted it to be."
"Oh yeah, why's that?" Troy asked stepping up beside me.
"I just wanted to remember this summer, and I haven't had a reason to yet." I walked over to the closed snack bar window and read the sign. "We're closed for the rest of the season- sorry for the inconvenience. Sand Bar State Park Management."
"That's too bad," Troy replied looking at the handwritten note, and then to me. He leaned toward me and placed his soft lips on mine. "Will that give you something to remember?"
I nodded. "Definitely."
As we walked back to our friends, Troy laced his fingers through mine.
When we walked up, Taylor and Kelsi both jumped up and gave me a hug. "Finally!" They said in unison.
I smiled, and sat down next to Troy to enjoy the rest of my summer.
(A/N: So? Did you like it? I got this idea when I was trying to fall asleep one night, and then I pretty much wrote the whole thing in my head before I actually did fall asleep. Also, check out Ryan and Justine- which is rated T…)
