A Lovers' Touch

As Saya sleeps beneath the cold ground, she dreams. She dreams of her past lives; of the happiness and the sadness that occupied them, of the beautiful people who were always there for her, and the ugly people who were not. She dreams of all those she loves; those dead and gone, and those still blissfully alive.
Most vividly, she dreams of Riku, or Kai, or Julia and David and Lewis. When she dreams of them, she aches for her family. They were always there for her… But Riku is now dead, and the terrible guilt she carried in her body ever since has waned some, but will never disappear. When she dreams of him, he is always smiling.
She dreams of Kai, as well. Somehow she knows that he is now the father of Diva's twin girls, and she is unspeakably proud of him. She can't hate those girls- they did not ask for a mother like Diva. And she fervently hopes and prays, even in her dreams, that when she awakens, they will not have to die. But she knows deep within her that Kai will make a good father.
She also dreams of Julia and David, and their new child; of Lewis, of his happy face and gentle voice. She even dreams of Liza from time to time; and although she had only known Liza a short time, she had loved Liza.
But most of all, she dreams of Haji.
Haji. Even in her dreams, she finds herself aching to be with him. He is the only one who will be with her for all of time…the only one she can truly, truly, trust. And he is the only man she loves, and the only man she will ever love.
She remembers their kiss fondly, before Amshel arrived and ruined her happiness. Of course, he is dead now. She remembers how soft his lips were, and the way they touched hers so gently. And in that moment, she had everything she had ever wanted.
She remembers all the times he has held her in his arms, the times he has whispered gently into her ear. She loved Riku and Liza, and she loves Kai and Julia and David and Lewis. But most of all, she loves Haji. Her Chevalier, her best friend, her protector, and her lover.
When she dreams of Haji, a faint smile can be seen gracing her frozen face.
When she dreams of Haji, she aches for the time when she will awake; and then they can finally, peacefully, be together.
When she awakens…she will be free to love. Not to dream of love, but to love. To love…Haji.
