I think this is the 1000 Wicked fic... Do we get anything for that? Like how other sections(like Rent) have a character pull tab? When do we get that? Ah anyway... little fic set during wthe Wizard of Oz, just before the balloon is launched- Wicked musicalverse.

Ding dong the witch is dead, which old witch? The wicked witch. Ding dong the wicked witch is dead...

I nearly laugh as I hear the cheers from the Ozians. To them, the Wicked Witch of the West, menace of Oz and the Wonderful Wizard was dead and gone for good. To me, my Elphaba was waiting for me, back at Kiamo Ko, where we could run off together, and be happy, and I could know she was safe.

It hurt a twinge to hear the rather cruel song, but I knew the lyrics were so false, it was pointless to take offense.

"Lady Glinda? Come on, why aren't you joining in the fun?" It's the Tinman's voice.

I turn to look at her. She's dazed, and her eyes are glassy. "Oh... I have a lot of work to do, what with the Wizard leaving me in charge." She shakes her head. "But you... you go on, and have fun. I'll be fine." I could hear the crack in her voice.

"Poor thing." The Tinman says to me. "She's been put under so much pressure. And isn't she only twenty-five years old?"

"Not quite. Her birthday isn't until June." I realize what I'd said, and add, "Or so I'm told."

He nods. "Well, I'm going to find the Wizard. Did they tell you I'm to be the Emperor of the Vinkus?"

"Have fun with that." Did my parents have no hope that I was alive? Ah, better him than me. "I'll be along."

Glinda had disappeared behind a large door. Cautiously, I knock.

A sob. "Y-yes?"

"Lady Glinda, it's the Scarecrow. May I come in? I'd like to speak with you in private."

"It's unlocked." She calls. I open the door, and can see her sitting at a desk. She sniffled weakly.

My heart breaks a little. I put a hand on her shoulder. "Are you alright?"

"It-it's good for Oz, but it's just sad to lose any life." A perfect, good response.

"Of course." I locate a handkerchief and hand it to her.

"Oh.. thank you." She dabbed her eyes. "Now, what can I do for you?"

I lower my voice. "Can you promise me you won't repeat this to anyone?"

She cocks her head, but says, "Well, alright."

I smile a painted grin. "Miss Galinda Upland, of the Upper Uplands?"

"How do you..?"

"Know you? I know your favorite ice cream is mint chocolate chip." I say it to try to gain trust. I was tempted to tell her it was me, Fiyero, but knew that would cause more harm than good. "Let's just say I know people. Good people. And I just wanted to tell you, I'm sure she is in a much better place, and is happy. She was never really happy, not really. You know."

Her eyes are wide. "Who are you?"

"Doesn't matter." I start to leave but say, "Glinda, keep your chin up. It'll be alright. You'll make good. For her aswell."
