Prologue
Blood, blood everywhere, no matter what I do it will not fade. Through the courtyards, amongst the gardens. I close my eyes in hopes that it will disappear. My army, my Princess, my companions, my lover, my unborn child, they're all gone, all but my Queen. I gasp out, desperate to breath, only to cough out blood. I bring my hand to my mouth on instinct, bringing the once white-gloved hand soaked in blood. This isn't how it was supposed to be, not like this, please not like this. I close my eyes once again praying to whatever deity that was willing to listen. I can feel my muscles screaming at me, protesting any movement, but I force my self to my feet. I slowly step towards my Queen, using all my strength to keep my head tall, to act as the warrior I am. I reach her, and there is a great sadness settled in her eyes and I share that. I look down next to my feet and see my companion, my friend, my rival, but most of all, my lover. I know that it was my sword that took his physical life but it was evil which killed him. I kneel down beside his prone form, lifting his head into my lap. I lean down kissing his temple and sweeping the hair from his face. Still stroking his face I look up at my Queen and simply say "Please, oh please God do not let it end like this." She simply nods her head at me, bringing her hand to my cheek, wiping away my tears, and says, "Hush child, everything will be alright just go to sleep". I can feel deaths icy grip on me, only staying at bay from my sheer will. Finally, I accept it. Laying down using my loves shoulder as a pillow. The last thing I saw before death took me was him, was my love. Kunzite...
