- I'm not going! – Anna cried.
Elsa just looked at her younger sister, she had gone through so much just to save her land and her queen. She remembered the Everlasting Winter incident and how that terrible prince Hans made a fool of Anna and even tried to killed herself, the Queen. Those were unspleasant memories that were all in the past now and would remains if if the King of the Southern Islands, Hans's father hadn't sent a Messenger bringing all of that shit up again. She sighed and their gazed crossed.
– I'm not. – She reassured as her sister's eyes locked on hers and crossed her arms. Her sister couldn't help but smile, Anna was such a strong-willed person. Elsa took her icy blue eyes from the red head and looked at the conselour.
- And I won't force her.
- My lady, your highness, I understand how you feel about this, but the king sincerely wants to make emends with Arendelle. Remember that the Islands never supported Hans's actions. Plus King Albion is a strong king, living in a prosperous land, an alliance would surely be...good for both lands.
- Always a plus... – Elsa raised one eyebrown to the.
- My queen, as a leader you should remember, it is not wise nor fair to condemn and entire nation because of only one man. As a queen you should remember that, my lady. – The queen sighed again supporting the conselour's gaze. Those nights awake in her chambers made him more secure to talk about his own thoughts on Arendelle's politics, the ideas were good and she knew he did this with good intentions, but she tried to make a mental note to talk to him about that next time they meet. Anna could notice something and it was not as if she was going to make him her king, as far as Elsa could tell she was not taking up a king any time soon and had already made plans to pass the throne to her future nephew or niece. Nothing personal, but the ice queen enjoyed her own space. Even so, she was a healty young woman and sometimes the nights were boring as hell. – My lady? – Stephan called again bringing her back.
'What a mess...' She thought, looked out the window pressing her head against the back of her tall chair and took a moment to consider. King Albion, High King of the Southern Islands, Hans's father and to other twelve men sent a scout with an apology letter addressed to both Elsa and Anna. In this letter, written by his own hands, the king apologizes for his younger son's behaviour and to make emends he invites them both to spend a few days in his land. Albion also says he wants to personally show queen and princess his kingdom's beauties so Arendelle could see good in the Islands once again and in the end of the letter he assures that Prince Hans would not be present, once he traveled, with his older brother and heir to the throne, to the East and there he would stay until he learned the meaning of loyalty. He did seemed like a good man, but so did Hans and he turned out to be a sociopath. She wouldn't force Anna on this. And what about Kristoff? They were an item now and maybe he won't feel comfortable in the land of his fiancee's last fiancee.
– We will think about it. - Stephan took a breath of air preparing to speak again, but Elsa was quicker and rised her hand in the air before he could say anything. – I said we will think about it. – She repeated firmly. – King Albion waited three years to send us this letter, surely he can afford to wait a few more days.
Anna looked at the conselour. Him and Elsa stared at each other for a moment and Anna thought he was being very bold today. She looked at Elsa put her hand out to take the letter back from the conselour with a touch of nobility. Her slender finger closed around the delicate piece of paper, since thei were kids Anna admired her so much. Elsa had some sort of greatness that could be sensed around any place she was in, being a queen fit her like a glove.
The conselour bowed quickly. – Yes, my queen.
- Thank you, Stephan. I need to talk to my sister now.
- Yes, my queen. – He repeated and bowed again before leaving through one of the decorated great doors from the castle. Anna still had her arms crossed, her red in two pig tails just the way she liked and a spark in her green-bluish eyes. Elsa managed not to laugh 'cause she thought it was really cute everytime Anna looked determined.
- I am... – Anna started when she saw her sister's gaze.
- ...not going, I know. I got it the first time. – Elsa finished her sister's sentence in surrender. – I won't force you to.
- Do you think we should go? – Anna bit her lip and changed her tone, finally asking
- Sincerely, I don't know. Politics are always involved. The Islands are strong and prosperous. It could be a hit joining our kingdoms in business. A new partner is always good, specially one who is feeling so guilty as Albion says he is. – She stopped for a moment quickly thinking about all the choices her political position implied. - Albion seemed truly sorry and Stephan was right, Hans was only one man in that kingdom. – She said finally standing up and walking up to her sister, she stood beside her Anna as they both stared across the window to a bouncy Olaff near the Gates.
- Would it be better for Arendelle? – Anna asked under her breath.
Elsa looked at her sister. – Look, we don't need to go.
- Sometimes we have to make choices thinking about a greater good. – Anna turned to her.
- Anna, you're my sister and there is no greater good than that. – Elsa said fixing one persistent lock of red hair behind her sister's ear. – We can work this out in another way.
- No, look. I also want what's best for Arendelle. It's not fair if you get all the hard work. – She wanted to help, Elsa smiled softly.
- I'll tell what, If you really want to consider this I will give you a few days to make up your mind. I won't make any decision without you, this is your choice, ok? – Elsa looked her sister right in the eyes and they shared one of those moments that only a story like theirs could have. Nothing would stand between them anymore.
Anna nodded her head and kissed her sister on the cheek before leaving to meet Kristoff and to think about this new situation. Now they were a couple and she would never do something that he was uncomfortable with. They would have to think together about this Hans's land x Arendelle's good. Anna was sure he would help her, after all those trolls were really right: he was the man!
Elsa continued looking through the window until she saw her sister's figure jump across the castle's square toKristoff's arms. God, she seemed so happy and alive! And Kristoff was a good guy. A little goofy and he smelled funny is true, but the smile Anna was wearing with him right was amazing. They were in love. She smiled again and when her eyes doze off around the room, Elsa saw her parents painting. The queen ordered that the painting had that horrible black covering removed. They seemed even happier now. Her parents. They were also mates for life, just like Anna and Kristoff.
Suddenly, Elsa felt her smile fade away. She looked at her figure reflected in the glass. She hadn't changed in the last three years. Her skin was still pale white and her eyes ice blue. The Ice Queen. Cold and alone, just like and iceberg. Yeah, the nickname sounded about right.
Later that night Anna came to her room, followed by a ashmed Kristoff and announced that they had reached a decision.
- We're going, if you think it's best for Arendelle.
Elsa looked from one to the other. Her crown was set on the table beside her and she was wearing a simple light blue night dress. Her eyes stopped on Kristoff. The man seemed absolutely embarrassed to see the queen like that, even if they were brothers-in-law. – You okay with this? – She asked observing the blonde man.
Kristoff looked at Anna and then at Elsa again. – Yeah. We want to help Arendelle and we know a new partnership is always important. I mean, some kingdoms farther in the west would kill to have you as their pet. Protection is important and the Islands are close.
Elsa's brows rose the way only she could make them at the mention of her being wanted as a souvenir, but that was Kristoff's way of saying he cared. Then looked at her sister.
- You sure? – She asked.
Anna sighed and shrugged her shoulders.
– Sometimes sucks being a queen... - Elsa had to admit while she called a messenger to dispatch a letter to the king of the Southern Islands.
