Through your eyes

A/N: Monica and Chandler story. Other characters might appear eventually.

And clearly, they're not mine.

She looked up from her magazine and noticed a man in the midle of the crownd. He was attractive, she couldn't deny it. But what called her atention was how he looked around to nowhere and everywhere at the same time. He looked lost. Maybe, waiting for someone. She didn't know and didn't care but somehow she could not take her eyes off him.

He paced near a tree and ran his hands through his hair. When he looked at his watch, she was sure he was waiting for someone. Suddenly, his eyes met hers but she looked down at her magazine once again, hoping he didn't notice her stare. But she knew he did. How could he not? She was so obvious. Her eyes ran through the pages but she had what was written. Her cheeks were red and she felt someone looking at her. It was him. She wanted to look back a him so badly but wa afraid he might get the wrong idea.

He walked over and sat beside her.

"Hey." Her eyes turned on his direction and she stopped breathing for a second as she looked into his blue eyes.

"Hi." She managed a whisper and turned back her eyes to her magazine.

"Must be an interesting interview, huh?"

"Do I know you?" Her voice showed the hostility she didn't felt.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bother you. It's just- I was waiting for someone, but obviously, I got stood up. My first date in New York and she doesn't even call to tell me she can't make it." He let out a nervous laugh. "And now you don't even wanna talk to me. Way to start a new life. I can't even make friends."

As he stood up, Monica let her guard down. "No, wait. I'm sorry, it's not you. I've been having a hard day. That's all."

"Oh, really? How come? Got stood up too?" Monica smiled at this. He was sweet.

"No, I got fired and broke up with the guy I was seeing."

"You won." She gave him a weak smile.

"Chandler Bing. I make innapropriate jokes all the time." She laughed and he melted in her smile thinking how beautiful she was.

"Monica Geller. Not funny at all."

"So Monica, how long have you lived here in New York?"

"About two years. What about you? I know you're new but how long new?"

"Eight days new."

"And you got stood up already?" She tried to hide her laugh but couldn't.

"Go on, laugh at my misery." He said smiling.

"I'm sorry. It's just- "

"I know."

They stared at each other's eyes for a moment. But Monica forced her eyes off him.

"So, Chandler. Where do you live?"

"Right now in a hotel, but I'm looking for a place to settle down."

"Oh, there's an apartment available across mine. I'll give you the address and you can check it out." She was not sure what she was doing. She would never invite a stranger to move across the hall. But he- he seemed familiar.

"That's great. Thanks."
