Summary: Zelos goes on a quick outing to the forest to catch pokemon.
Pairing: Zelos/Guy/Yuri/Luke/Ash
"What to use on a wild Fon Fabre," Zelos mused, idly tapping the pokeballs at his belt. "Especially such a small one?"
The Fon Fabre, an unevolved Luke type, waved its sword at him once, but it looked so awkward holding the blade that he wondered if it didn't want to fight at all. With all the bruises and scratches on its arms and face, he suspected that the poor thing was being bullied in the forest. Something had even slashed its hair short, probably during a fight. Catching it and taming it would probably be satisfying in more ways than one. Zelos nodded to himself once and picked one of the balls.
"Gaillardia!" he called out, throwing the pokeball. "I choose you!"
"Enter the amazing Guy!" his pokemon cried out as he appeared, holding his sword in a relaxed grip, glancing up and down Luke to gauge his threat level.
"Guy, use Crescent Strike attack!" Zelos cried out.
The Luke cried out in dismay, backing up as he parried Gaillardia's blows with a skill that surprised all of them. Whether it was luck or skill, one of his Fang Blade artes slipped past Guy's guard, heading right for his exposed throat.
Guy gasped, trying to turn, and Zelos put his hand out uselessly, sure he was about to see Guy cut open, and miles away from any poke-hospital.
Instead Luke twisted his blade up and away, missing Guy by inches, and clutched his sword close like a security blanket. His eyes widened as he shook, panting at the close call.
Zelos felt a little guilty as Guy immediately struck Luke with his pommel, knocking him to the ground. But Guy was too well trained to be rattled or let the opportunity pass. And when Zelos held up an empty pokeball, drawing in the Luke, he clipped him to the belt and patted it gently.
"It's okay," he said, sure that the pokemon heard him. "I'll take care of you, honey. Promise."
"ASCH!"
Tensing, Zelos released his other pokemon before he even started to turn. A wild Asch appearing with its Luke counterpart-what were the odds? But those were far more confident and aggressive than the unevolved type, and he couldn't send Guy against it alone.
"Yuri," Zelos called out. "Use Tiger Blade! Guy, use Void Tempest!"
"Havoc strike!"
The wild Asch, glaring at them with its head lowered, long hair flying in the wind, suddenly charged with its own sword held high. Yuri and Guy closed ranks in front of Zelos, protecting their owner from the Asch's attack.
The clash of swords bowled Zelos over, and when he sat up on his elbows, the battle was over. Yuri had the Asch pinned down with his sword going through the pokemon's suit into the ground, and Guy was sitting on top of its legs. The Asch snarled and spit, but before it could try to rip free, Zelos had captured it.
"Oh, very nice," Zelos grinned. "A matched set. That one will be a challenge to tame. And after we give Luke a little patching up at the hospital, I think we can help draw our poor little honey out of his shell."
Sheathing their swords, Guy and Yuri exchanged a look and sighed.
"Zelos," Yuri groaned. "We're tired. Can't we just sleep one night-?"
Zelos cut them off with the zap of a pokeball. Once they were safely boxed back up, he clipped them to his belt again and began the trip back to town. Such a productive afternoon! If he was lucky, he might get one more trip out into the woods to look for a wild Peony, and then he looked forward to a long night of taming and training his pokemon.
