So, this is the start to my little Sirius and Regulus drabble. I'm not sure where I'm going with it.
London, 1967
Sirius was always felt very responsible for his younger brother Regulus, Regulus was only a year younger than his brother, but he always looked up to him. That was how it began at least, the two young Black brothers before Blood Supremacy, or Death Eaters, before Blood Traitors, it was just Sirius and Regulus.
Sirius was a trouble maker from the beginning, nothing harmless of course, hiding things, irritating Kreacher, messing up that one shirt his mother told him not to touch. Regulus just followed along, asking questions, wondering if his older brother was going too far. But innocence in the Black family was never going to last long.
It was a hot day in July, Sirius was seven, Regulus six, their mother had let them go outside for a few hours, even at that age Sirius hated being kept inside. "Okay, come on Reg, Mum isn't looking" Sirius said as he hoisted himself over the garden fence "But-," his brother protested "Come on!" as usual Regulus just followed his brother. The street was loud, louder than Grimmauld place, Sirius always hated silence.
"Sirius, what are we doing?" "Going out" Sirius told his brother "Where?" "Don't you hate staying inside all day?" "No" "Well you should" Sirius had a hard time believing people thought differently than him, his parents simply believed it was childhood stubbornness, not like sweet Regulus who did everything he was told and never talked back.
"You should come meet my friend" Sirius said "You're what?" "I found a friend last week her name is Joy" "What kind of name is that?" "A muggle name" Sirius said, proud of the fact he knew that. Sirius loved muggles, they were so very interesting, "I'm pretty sure Joy's a witch she's only your age Reg, but I'm pretty sure" "You see her parent's are-" "They're Muggles!" Sirius grinned, there was nothing cooler than Sirius having a muggle friend Regulus looked horrified "You're friends with a mudblood" Sirius stopped dead his smiled faded from his face "What did you just say?" "You're-she's a mudblood" "I can't believe you just said that" "Why not, Mum and Dad say it all the time" "So, Mum and Dad think Muggles should all be killed and muggle borns aren't really wizards" Regulus stayed silent "You don't believe that, right?" Sirius already had a hard time in his family, being seven and already the black sheep, but Regulus was only six, he was just a little kid, they were friends.
"Sirius, I'm sorry" "Don't say it again" Sirius told his brother "Okay, I won't" it used to be that easy, if Regulus said sorry everything was better, they were friends again, Regulus was on his side, and Sirius could pretend a little longer than all his fears about Regulus weren't coming true. Sirius didn't take Regulus to see Joy that day, instead they went home, in fact Sirius never mentioned Joy in front of Regulus again.
