Lindsey stood sipping her first cup of morning coffee as she stared out the small window of Danny's apartment kitchen. She was still trying to wrap her mind around the fact that she hadn't gone home last night.

She'd stayed with Danny; she'd slept next to him in his bed, and she'd awoke to find he was already up and in the shower. He had to go to work. She didn't. She wished that he had the day off too, but if wishes were horses…

Danny was back in his bedroom and she could hear him rummaging around, getting dressed and muttering about misplacing his wallet. Lindsey grinned. She knew where it was. It was in the pocket of the jeans he'd been wearing last night. The jeans that were in a heap on the floor beside the nightstand. She stared into the caramel coloured depths of her coffee. Danny didn't drink coffee unless it was black, and she'd been pleasantly surprised to find a small container of creamer in his pantry.

"Hey Montana," he called from down the hall, "did you save me any coffee?" Danny came into the kitchen, a teasing smile on his handsome face.

"A little," Lindsey responded, reaching into the cabinet to grab another mug just as Danny's cell phone chirruped.

Sighing, he flipped it open, and looked at the text message he'd just received. Shaking his head, Danny looked at Lindsey apologetically.

"Never mind. Mac wants me at the Staten Island Bridge ASAP." He explained, "some guy jumped." He finished, and Lindsey nodded.

"It's okay," she said, and set her coffee on the counter before walking to stand in front of him.

"Be careful," she said, looking up into his eyes.

Danny wrapped his arms around her, hugging her to his chest.

"Will do," he said, moving his hands up to cup her face.

"Last night was…" he didn't get a chance to finish his statement.

Raising up on her toes, Lindsey placed a kiss on his right cheek. Danny gazed into her warm brown eyes, and then touched his mouth to hers. He kissed her gently, and pulled away, slightly breathless. Lindsey ran the tip of her tongue over her lips, still warm from his kiss. Tracing his cheek lightly with her finger, she whispered,

"Get going." Danny nodded but didn't move away.

Lindsey kissed him on the cheek she'd just touched. Danny placed his finger on his chin.

"Kiss me here," he whispered, his eyes serious.

Lindsey placed a gentle kiss right above his finger tip.

"Now here." Danny instructed, running a finger along his jaw.

Lindsey giggled but obliged him.

"Here," Danny whispered, a grin teasing the corners of his mouth as he pointed to his right cheekbone.

Again, she dropped a small kiss on his cheek, just where he'd indicated.

Danny looked again into her doe-soft eyes.

"Last night was…" He began again, looking hopeful.

"Something I'd like to repeat sometime." His husky words brought a blush to Lindsey's own cheeks.

"Me too," she whispered, not trusting her voice to speak.

Danny dropped another kiss on her lips and moved toward the door.

"I gotta go, Montana," he said reluctantly.

"Mac'll kill me if I don't get there soon."

Lindsey smiled again and walked him to the door.

"If you guys need any help," she said,

"Let me know. You know I go crazy without anything to do on my days off."

Danny shook his head as he walked out the door.

"Even you need a day off once in a while." Stopping in the hall, he turned back to look at Lindsey.

"Promise me," he said as an afterthought,

Promise me you'll be here when I get home."

Lindsey could only nod her acquiesence. Her heart was hammering in her chest at the invitation in his voice. Suddenly, she couldn't wait until his shift was over.
