Sandys P.O.V.
I was standing on the Curtis' front porch, trying to work up the courage to knock. I was back to see Soda after being gone almost two years.
"Here goes nothing." I mumbled to myself, bringing my tiny fist to the door. A girl about my age opened it, a smile on her face. She had long brown hair and bright, shining green eyes. Whoever she was, she was awful pretty.
"Hi, I'm Ellie. Can I help you?" She asked. A little girl who looked like Ellie ran into her and grabbed her leg.
"No Ponyboy!" She squealed, hiding her face in Ellies' leg.
"Yes Emily." Pony smiled, pulling her off Ellie.
"Hi Ponyboy." I greeted hesitantly. I know he probably didn't like me, and with good reason.
"Hi Sandy." He mumbled, leading Emily away.
"Oh, are you looking for someone?" Ellie asked turning back toward me. I guess she realized I knew them now.
"Is Sodapop here?" I asked slowly. Her smile never faltered but I could tell by the look in her eyes she was wondering who I was and why I was here.
"Hold on a second. Soda!" She hollered for him. I gave her an awkward smile back, silently thanking her. Soda came from down the hallway, putting on a plaid button up over a white t-shirt. So, I see nothings changed, I smiled inwardly. His hair was wet, so he probably just got out of the shower. He didn't notice me at first and went straight to Ellie. One arm wrapped around her waist and he gave her a sweet peck on the lips.
"What is it?" He asked. She glanced at me and for the first time in almost two years, he looked at me. He looked shocked then confused then angry.
"Hi Soda." I gave a half hearted wave.
"What are you doing here Sandy?" He asked, sounding annoyed.
"I'll give you guys some privacy." Ellie mumbled, nodding at Soda and I. Soda gave her another kiss, this time on the cheek. She smiled at him, both of their eyes giving off a quick flash of pure adoration. Soda stepped outside shutting both the screen and regular door.
"Why are you here?" He asked again, crossing her arms.
"I just wanted to see how you were doing. I was in town and I thought I'd stop by." I replied, stretching the truth. I had came here hoping to fix things with him, but after seeing him with Ellie, I changed my mind.
"Well thanks. Um, how's your uh kid?" He asked. I could tell he was just being nice.
"He's doing good. Almost two now." I smiled referring to my son. I wasn't with the father anymore, but I loved my son more than anything. I wished though, it was Sodas and not the other guys. At least, I used to. He looked at Ellie like he never looked at me before. She was the one he loved. She was the one he was meant to be with. Her, not me. Ellie, not Sandy.
"That's good." He nodded, glancing back at the door.
"Ellie seems real nice." I told him. When I said her name, his eyes lit up and he smiled from ear to ear.
"Yeah, she's great. The gang treats her like a sister and she's great with her little sister. She's definitely amazing." He rambled.
"I'm glad you're happy, you deserve it. I'm sorry about what happened and I wished I could take it back, but I can't. Just, keep her around Soda. She's worth it." I told him, getting ready to leave.
"Yeah, I know." He replied looking down at his shoes.
"Bye Soda." I whispered turning away.
"Bye Sandy." He said, starting to walk back inside. I heard the screen door shut, and I assumed he left the other door open. I turned around one last time, glancing at the screen door. Soda was standing with Ellie, his arms around her waist. They were both laughing and looking into each others eyes. They were beyond in love and anyone could see it.
I smiled, wiping away a tear. I knew I'd made the right decision.
He was happy and that's all I had ever wanted.
