As the fellowship slumbered in the forest that grew in the shadow of the misty mountains, Aragorn, who was on guard, waited for the sun to arise.

It would not be long before the light would come back, but all the warmth and light seemed to disappear from the world.

He wrapped his cape a bit closer around himself, and got on his feet.

.

Legolas, the woodelf, looked up at him. He had been resting, but now he was fully awake again. They exchanged a quiet look, as the strange elf got on his feet.

They had both heard about each other, but they had never met before. Now they were travelcompagnions.

Aragorn's attention was caught, as the head of the woodelf snapped towards the left. Without a word he grabbed his bow and readied the shot.

.

"Move and you are dead."

Legolas said, his voice clear and serious. A laughter came from the woods.

"Legolas Greenleaf, I thought you might hear me."

Legolas slightly lowered his bow, looking a bit curious into the woods.

.

In the meanwhile the rest of the fellowship had awoken, and the experienced fighters among them had grabbed their weapons.

There was no rush of leaves, nor was there cracks of twigs as a hooded figure walked into their camp from the woods.

.

"Stop! And show us your face." Boromir, son of Gondor thundered through the woods.

The hooded figure looked at him, and said with an icycold voice:

"Don't talk so loud, Boromir, son of Gondor, for there are more terrible things then me in this forest."

.

As she removed her cap, her blond hair lit up in the light of the small fire. It was clear she was elfkind, and Aragorn recognized the beauty that lay oppon her face.

Her eyes moved back towards the woodland elf.

"There was a small group of orcs following you, they are no more."

"Are you alright?"

The elf had switched to Elvish, and Aragorn could see the she-elf relax a little bit.

"Nothing I can't handle." She replied.

.

Legolas lowered his bow and moved closer to her. They spoke soft now, only whispers of words.

The female elf averted her eyes, she looked hurt, and Aragorn felt a blush run up to his cheek. He was sure they are present with something they were not supposed to.

.

As she looked back, he could see her eyes glisten.

"Then I say farewell, for you are taking a path I can not follow."

"Until we meet again. Namarie." Legolas made a formal goodbye, replied by the woman.

.

There was a moment, Aragorn was sure she would break with tradition and wrap her arms around him, but she did not.

She put her hood back on and walked away, not looking back. Legolas on the other hand, looked at her until she disappeared between the trees.

.

"Who was that?"

Gimli asked, as he too followed her with his eyes.

"I do not know."

Gandalf said. Eight pairs of eyes stared towards the woodelf.

"A friend."

Legolas said, his voice soft and filled with worry. It turned quiet.

Sam was the one who broke the silence.

"Well, if we are all awake, we might as well have breakfast."
