My POV
I lay there, not moving, on my foster parents couch as my 'mother' yelled at me. "You are so irresponsible!" she exclaimed.
"Then why did you take me?" I snapped.
"Because you needed a home!" she said.
"I don't need anyone." I snarled, and ran up to the attic that was 'my room' and packed a small bag.
When I went to leave, I discovered that the she-devil had locked the door.
"So you want to play that game." I whispered, planning an escape route.
I cranked open the window and squeezed myself out onto the five story up roof, closing the window behind me.
I gasped as the vertigo hit, but there was no way in hell I was going to give them the satisfaction of crawling back through that window.
I threw the bag over my shoulder and carefully started climbing down the lattice, then I slipped, I passed out before I hit the ground.
When I opened my eyes, my first thought was; I'm dead, I fell and broke my neck.
As I became more self aware I realized I was indeed very much alive. I took it all in, I survived, I didn't get caught, I was free, as long as I could get out of here fast. I stood up, and ran, as fast as I could. I was never going back, never, I didn't belong there… I didn't belong anywhere.
God, I hate my life. Pain, sorrow, doubt, that was all I knew, when I was young, the other kids at the adoption center taught me fast, that I was nothing, my real parents didn't want me, so why would anyone else? People said that I had trust issues, I just don't let people in, When you let people in they can hurt you.
When I was so lost in thought, I wasn't paying attention, and I tripped, luckily, I wasn't hurt, but I was losing time. I gulped down some water and kept going.
After a few hours, I had to stop and rest, I sat on a rock, I decided to stick to the woods.
I gathered wood and built a fire, pulling out the trail mix that I brought to eat. I pulled out my book and started reading. Peter pan was my favorite story, but every time I read it, I couldn't help but think there was something off about it, like the story was getting things wrong, I didn't know what, but something…
I hear the crunching of leaves and I stand up, thinking to run, but the thing that emerged from the trees wasn't what I had expected, heck, it wasn't even human.
I stood there for a minute, not sure what to do.
A shadow, Pan's shadow, I don't know how I knew, but it was. 'He' held out his hand towards me, like an invitation, but somehow, I don't think I had a choice. I ran, I didn't make it far though, the shadow grabbed the back of my shirt, I pulled, eventually twisting out of it's hold.
When I turned, the shadow was there, I ran another direction, hoping to lose 'him', But he grabbed me and covered my mouth before I could scream. "Don't resist." the shadow rasped in my ear. Of course, I didn't listen, I pulled and tried to escape, using anything I could to hold on, trees, rocks.
He jumped, taking me with him, only we didn't hit the ground, we were soaring through the night sky, it was beautiful, I was here against my will, but if not for that… "Do I at least get to know where you're taking me?!" I demanded, looking up, the shadow was silent. Why was I being kidnapped by Pan's shadow?
I stopped struggling, the ground was a long way away now, I wasn't going to risk it.
We reached the sky and a bright flash of light, the whole scene changed. An island, it was beautiful, "Neverland." I gasped.
about a mile from the island, the shadow dropped me in the water. "Awww, come on! Really?" I exclaimed, a wave of annoyance washed over me, along with a wave of sea water.
I swam to the Island and collapsed on the beach, coughing up salt water, my bag was intact, so thankfully, I didn't lose my only weapon. As I sat up, a large group of boys broke through the dense jungle of trees, they surrounded me and one of them spoke up, "A girl?" he wore a hood over his blond hair, only just showing his bright blue eyes.
"What do we do with her, Felix?" asked one of the younger boys. The one who spoke before, he must be Felix, said, "What we always do, we take her to Pan." he commanded, grabbing my arm and pulling me up, his mistake, I twisted his arm back, pulling free and I ran, as far and as fast as I could.
Peter's POV
I was sitting at camp, eating an apple when Felix returned. "Well, laddie, wheres our new recruit?" I asked. "Pan, it's a girl." he said uncertainly. "A girl? this has happened before, we'll put her with Wendy. Well where is she?" I sighed, I was hoping for the heart of the truest believer. "She got away." he said.
"What?" I demanded. "We weren't expecting her to fight back." he defended quickly. "Well then, that changes the game, we just might have a keeper here, Felix, Game on."
