'Because I Love You'


Summary: Very short KS piece, set around the episode of The Bill shown on UKTV Gold on Friday 11th August 2006! Set after Smithy warns Cameron off Kerry and we all know why! Please review! xxx

"What the hell did you do that for?" Kerry shouted, she couldn't believe she could be this angry at one single person.

Smithy looked at her and tried to work out why she was so angry with him, and then he remembered.

"Did it make you feel good? Ruining whatever there was between Cameron and I before it had even begun?" Kerry continued, not waiting for Smithy to say anything.

"I was just looking out for a mate." Smithy said casually, before getting more serious. "I was just warning him before you hurt him."

Kerry was lost for words for a moment and just stared at him; at those beautiful green eyes.

"And what makes you think that I'd hurt him?" She asked.

Smithy scoffed and looked away. "That's what you do isn't it Kerry? You just use us for what you want and then you drop us when another poor unsuspecting bloke comes along."

Kerry was really hurt by his words. "Is that what you really think of me?"

Smithy looked away, breaking the eye contact between them.

"I don't think that's the real you." He said honestly.

"Well maybe if you'd been married to someone who neglected to tell you that they were gay and had been unfaithful even before your wedding and then you'd lost their child you might have changed a lot as well." She replied, feeling her eyes flood with tears. She was not going to cry, Dale Smith was not going to make her cry.

"Luke?" Smithy said, his voice a little softer. It was a common ground with them, being let down by Luke Ashton.

Kerry nodded. "Who else?"

Smithy shrugged, she had a point there.

"I'm sorry Kerry, for what I said to Cameron. I was just doing what I thought was best for him."

Kerry raised an eyebrow, knowing how much she was risking.

"What was best for him?" She echoed.

"Yeah." Smithy nodded. "Of course."

"Okay." Kerry smiled a little and turned to walk away.

"Wait!" Smithy stopped her. "Okay, maybe I didn't do it just for his benefit."

"Well you certainly didn't do it for mine." Kerry said, thinking of how Cameron had been blowing hot and cold since they had slept together.

Smithy raised an eyebrow. "Didn't I?"

Kerry laughed. "You totally slagged me off to a guy I actually really liked."

Smithy considered this. "What if I told you the reason behind it?"

"I'm all ears." Kerry replied, she wanted to hear this.

"Maybe it was because I love you..." He stopped, colour rushing to his cheeks as he waited for Kerry's reaction. It definitely wasn't what she had been expecting to hear.

"Funny you should say that." Kerry replied with a smile. "Because I might just love you too."
