As the lights of the day filled the room, bringing a pleasant summer warmth in with them, Anakin woke up. Outside the window a field of the greenest grass, and he instantly recognized Naboo. He around, something seemed odd, he couldn't tell what. He heard younglings playing outside the room, and for some reason that filled his heart with joy, until suddenly he heard a familiar voice.
"Quite now, you're going to wake up your father!" It was Padmé, she sounded angry, but Anakin could feel she was happier than he had ever recalled.
Anakin jumped out of the bed, stretching as he walked up to the door, he knew something amazing was about to happen when he opened it. He couldn't tell why, but suddenly he felt like a weight had been taken from his shoulders, and he was calm and happy.
"Daddy!" They said the most beautiful children he had ever seen, his children, in unison.
"Oh Anakin, I'm so sorry. You know, they are only noisy when they are up." Padmé said, she wanted her dear husband to rest, but Luke and Leia did not colaborate very often. She walked up to him to kiss him good morning "Did you sleep well?"
"For the first time, I can say that I have. No nightmares, nothing, it must be because I'm so well protected by my little Jedi." Anakin said with a smile, lowering himself to hug his children "Good morning, Luke. Good morning, Leia."
"See I told you I was going to be a Jedi!" Luke said to his sister "Just like daddy."
"It's not fair! I wanna be a Jedi too, daddy!" Leia cried, folding her arms and pouting.
"If you take your training serious, both of you will become Jedi. But there's a way to become even more powerful than master Yoda, and one way alone. It's a secret that I'll tell you if you promise you'll do your best to do it." Anakin said in a serious tone, and both Luke and Leia swore to do whatever their father said "To become the most powerful Jedi, you must obey and followed the orders, of no one other than-"
"Who, daddy?" Leila asked, her heart beating so fast it could have won a pod race.
"Hey, I'm getting there. Patience, young one." Anakin said laughing, both of them were on the edged of their sits "You must obey your mother, Padmé Amidala Skywalker. And you'll become a Jedi just in time-"
"In time for what?" Luke interrupted, his eyes as big as the moon.
"For breakfast!" Anakin finished, clapping his hands and standing up "If mommy tells me you had all your breakfast, and you'll be rewarded."
"I'll eat mine first!" Luke said running to the kitchen.
"No, I will!" Leia said running after him.
"Do you think master Yoda knows, you're the new head of the Council?" Anakin joked, pulling Padmé close to him and kissing her passionately "This is what I called a good morning kiss."
"The kids, Anakin!" Padmé started laughing as Anakin kissed her neck, she ran her finger through his hair. And when he stopped she smiled "You're impossible!"
But suddenly the beautiful field faded away, followed by their children's fighting, which became completely inaudible. And then Padmé faded away from his embrace. And that's when Anakin woke up realized he was at a military base, surrounded by clones. They were still at war against the separatists. And Padmé, she was far, far away from him. And suddenly that made him so lonely, she was more than just his wife, she was his best friend. And if felt lonely not having her to talk to.
And children? What would their life be if they had children? How would they keep that as a secret? He had no idea, but Anakin promise himself that if Padmé ever had children he would love them so very much, and if they wanted maybe he could take them as Padawan, that would be nice. One thing he was sure though, he wouldn't let anything happen to them. He would take care of his kids, no matter what.
