No grave could hold so free a soul

I see him in the frisking foal

I hear him laughing on the breeze

That stirs the very tops of trees

All of Gondor mourned their king. Sounds of sobbing could be heard from the streets. In the palace, a young elf sat alone in the throne room, staring at the empty throne, remembering the king who would never again sit there. Tears flowed from the elf's sapphire eyes as he remembered Aragorn, his friend and king.

Legolas stood beside the White Tree, singing softly in his own language. A soft breeze rustled the leaves, and Legolas could hear again his friend's laughter, happy and carefree. Down on the plains, a herd of horses galloped into view, a young foal frisked through the grass, and Legolas was reminded of Aragorn's free spirit.

Legolas rode Arod through the very place he and Aragorn had once fought Orcs, so many years before. An empty silence filled the place where Aragorn usually rode. Legolas felt as if nothing would ever fill that place, not even Gimli could fill the aching hole in the elf's heart.
