The Glimmers of The Heart
She lay alone on her bed, blankets just uncovering her face
and pain evident in her eyes. They shone glossy and a tear
trickled down her sad cheek. He had left earlier that day and she
could barely stand it. She couldn't find anything to do with
herself. Things she usually loved she shied away from. She felt
useless and empty. Her phone buzzed and she looked at the text
from him. The text that tried to reassure her, to give her hope.
But hope was a lost friend to her right now. She knew that it
would return but right then she wanted no companion other than
the one that had left that same day. She wanted so much to
change things, to make them as they were. Except this time she
would separate them from the world. What was the world to her?
Nothing. It was nothing but the place that harbored her loved
one at a cruel distance. Once they were reunited no longer would
worldy things separate them. They would be together in every
aspect. Sometimes she wondered if he felt the same way as she.
But then she remembered his face as he left and the incredible
sadness that it had held. She had never imagined it could or
would ever look that way. She had been proven wrong, but
whether this was good or bad she could not decide. She wanted
to be strong but she just wasn't as strong as he. She wanted him
to know her emotion and to feel it. So maybe she wanted to guilt
him into staying, although it would be wrong to keep him from his
family. She had no right to do that nor did she have to will to
carry it out. But so what, she wanted him to herself. She was
growing wary of the times they had been ripped apart and the
times sure to come. Even though things seemed bleek she knew in
her heart that one day a beautiful scene from a fairytale would
be born. One that depicts her and him in their own house, happy
as could be. Two lovers in harmony at last. Oh how sweet the
relief would be. The joy of that day would make up for the now.
As long as she kept this vision in her heart she knew that she
could make it through this trough and rise to the crest of
victory in wondrous love.
