What About Miguel?
"So what happened between you and Miguel?" she asked.
"Oh . . . . Well," he said, looking a little uncomfortable, "I guess you could say that, well . . . you did."
"Oh. Oh! Oh, that's too bad."
"Yeah, but I guess we're over with," he said, and for a moment he looked far away even as he was so close. His arms tightened around her absently, just slightly.
"Was it love?"
Tulio seemed absolutely stunned by this question. "What?!"
"Well was it?" she asked, looking up into his eyes.
"I don't know, Chel, how could I possibly know that?"
She shrugged. "Well he likes women, right?"
"Yes, he definitely likes women."
"Do you think he likes me?" she asked, sounding a little uncertain.
"Of course. Wait, just what are you proposing here?"
"Tulio?"
"What?"
"Do you think Miguel would consider having me as well as you?"
"Like we're a package deal?" he raised an eyebrow.
"More like the two of you are," she teased.
There was a faint smile on his lips, and she kissed it. "Maybe," he said quietly after a moment.
"We'll see," she said.
"Not yet, of course."
"Of course," she said with her soft smirk. "But, eventually."
"Eventually," he agreed. But he really wasn't too certain.
