~Gaius: What happened to the young boy who came into my chambers just a few years ago?

Merlin:He grew up. And he learned the meaning of duty.~

A Requiem

For Children Who Grow Up

And Lose the Best Parts of Themselves

For Morgana

A vibrant young woman

Headstrong and Beautiful

Who stood side by side

With people she never knew

In a village she never saw

Because she believed in right

Who was betrayed, alienated, left alone

In the dark.

and

For Merlin

A cheerful young man

Bright and heartfelt

Who went headfirst

Without looking

To save a friend

No matter what the future might bring

Because the future

Was never so important

As now

Who was crushed

By destiny.

For these two young people

One

Who did for hate

What the other

Did for love

Two

Who never wanted to be

What they became

Frightened

And

Lost

~Demons run when a good man goes to war/Night will fall and drown in sun

When a good man goes to war/Friendship dies and true love lies

Night will fall and the dark will rise/When a good man goes to war

Demons run but count the cost/The battles won but the child is lost.~

A/N: 1st quote: BBC Merlin, Episode 5.5; 2nd quote: It's not Doctor Who originally. No, nor is it Stephen Moffat. If you know and can tell me I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER. It's a poem from the 1800s (I think. Pretty sure.)

Anyway, I hoped you enjoyed. This was my first Merlin fic (I joined the fandom late. *hangs head sadly*). Feel free to visit my profile page. Review and leave your Hogwarts House for 5 points! :)
