He's just sleeping, Right?

"Goodbye, old friend.. thank you... for everything.. keep Littlekit and Birchkit safe..."

Barleystalk let tears fill his eyes as he watched his old friend, Ravenwing, close his eyes.

"Goodbye, Barley..."

"Goodbye, Ravenpaw..."

"Ravenwing?", Barleystalk heard a small, squeaky tom cat voice stutter in suprise.

"Hello, Littlekit...", Barleystalk greeted him with a grim expression.

Littlekit padded up to Barleystalk, a scared expression on his face. "Barleystalk?", he meowed.

"Yes?"

"He, he... he's just sleeping, right?

"I'm so sorry, Littlekit..."

Littlekit looked at Barleystalk, tears filling his eyes. "No! He, he's just sleepin'!"

"Littlekit... he's gone, Littlekit."

"No! Ravenwing can't die! He's the best cat ever! He was gonna be my mentor, and he was like, my father, and, and..."

"Look, Littlekit, this is hard for me to... I, I know it hurts..."

"No you don't! You don't know what it's like to lose your best friend!"

"I'm sorry, Littlekit..."

The truth was, Barleystalk knew EXACTLY what it felt like. Ravenwing was his best friend as well, and they had been friends since Ravenwing ran away from Thunderclan so many moons ago.

"It's gonna be okay, Littlekit...", Barleystalk mewed in a whisper. But Littlekit had padded over to Ravenwing's body, and was sobbing queitly.

Cherryfall, Littlekit's mother, softley padded over to Barleystalk.

"You may not realise... around the time you came, or just before, that his little brother died. His youngest sister was taken by a hawk. Ravenwing helped him cover the grief. With the death of Ravenwing, he just can't hold his sadness anymore. Just keep in mind that his father, Sharpclaw, is also dead."

"I'm sorry, Cherryfall... It's just, I don't know what to do..."

"We'll figure something out"

"I guess we will..."
