It was just about sunset when Alyana reached the beach. This particular part of the beach was a hidden spot that only her and her mother knew about. Thay found it two years ago wandering where they weren't supposed to. Even though they were mother and daughter they were best friends, acted more like sisters. Her mother had told her to meet her here. She said she had something important to tell her. So, she went and waited. After about half an hour, her mom still hadn't showed up. She was getting worried.
Reaching into my pocket and taking out my cell phone, I dialed my mothers very familiar phone number.I waited...there was no answer, after one ring it went to viocemail. "Is she ignoring me?"
I though out up and brushing the sand off me, I turned and began walking towards my house. It will only take five minutes to get there seeing as i live really across from the beach. Not me and my moms hidden one, but the public one. I stepped onto the soft silk like sand, and walked towards the exit. About 2 minutes later i reached my house, only to see cop cars scattered across the front of it.
I began to panic. An officer walked up to me. "Im terribly sorry for your loss." I gave him a confused look. "What are you talking about?". He sighed and said nothing. He just turned to the front of the house where two paramedics carried someone out in a body bag. Then it clicked inside my brain. MY MOTHER. Breaking down in hysterical tears and fell to the ground. Arms wrapped around me and I heard yelling, but they sounded distant. I finally tuned into what people were saying. The man whose arms were wrapped around me, were my fathers
. I pushed out of his grip and ran as fast as i could to my mothers now dead body.I pushed everyone who got in my way, even the paramedics. Unzipping the body bag I was staring right into the face of my mother. I cried even harder. I hugged my mother, expecting her to hug back, but she didn't. "SHE'S NOT DEAD!" I managed to choke out. " S-SHE CAN'T BE!". My father grabbed my and had to hold me down while they took her away. My mother. How could she be dead? It's all my fault! If I would've been with her...my thoughts trailed on and on. I had passed out.
I bolted straight up wondering if it had all been a dream. It wasn't. My father was sitting on the couch in my room. Sleeping. I had stopped crying by now. I didn't feel like crying anymore. Mom wouldn't of wanted me to cry over her. She would want me to be strong, so that's exactly what I'll do. No more crying, no more tears.
Then it hit me again. My mother, my bestfriend...is gone. Forever. I would never see her again. I would never smell her sweet scent of my mother's perfume. I would never hug her again..or even hear her voice. Tears welled up in my eyes. Then they stopped. I hadn't even found out how my mother doed. I jumped out of bed and practically leaped to the couch my father was on and shook him. "DAD!" He woke up quickly. "Alyana? What is it? Are you alright?"
"Yes. I'm fine...How did mom DIE?" My harsh but true words sunk into him. He looked as if someone had just slapped him in the face. He hesitated then answered. " No one knows. Your naighbor..Jackie heard a scream and came running over. She found her lying dead on the kitchen floor." ...
