"Jim, what is the meaning of this?" It was almost quitting time at the office and Dwight was not up for his coworker's childish antics after an entire day of sales calls.

"Um, meaning of what?" Jim tore his eyes away from his work and gave Dwight his classic confused look.

With a glare, Dwight roughly turned his computer monitor towards Jim and pointed to the screen. "THIS!" he yelled.

"Oh! That." A flashing pink card appeared on the screen. The happy, dancing baker angered Dwight and he needed an explanation for its existence now. "That is an e-vite to my, uh, cupcake baking party," Jim continued.

"A cupcake baking party, Jim?" Dwight rolled his eyes.

"Ah, yeah," he knew it sounded absurd. Pam put him up to this. He had no choice! They are currently in an extreme Truth or Dare game and Jim is a sucker for the dares. He just likes lives on the edge and you never know what Beesly is going to throw at you next.

"You bake?" Dwight paused, "That seems unlikely."

"Well, actually, it is likely because I'm having a party centered around it," Jim said with a shrug.

Dwight stared at him dumbfounded. "Okay then. I will attend your little girly party." Without skipping a beat he asked, "Is Michael invited?"

"Absolutely. Everyone is." Jim explained.

All of this just felt so... wrong to Dwight. Jim never invites him anywhere, much less to his own apartment. With a nod to Jim, Dwight got up from his desk and prepared to head back to Schrute Farms. It was a long day and now he has an excuse to make some of his favorite beet flavored icing.

That night was spent just how Dwight had planned. Beet icing, a phone call from Angela, a couple hours spent with his beloved Battlestar Galactica, and then in bed by 10:30 PM sharp. He had a difficult time concentrating on sleep though, Jim was on his mind. This was strange, Halpert rarely found his way into Dwight's thoughts nowadays. There is just no point anymore to waste time dreaming about his coworker and what could have been. When they were first staring out, sure, Dwight thought they could have made a powerful team. He counted on it, actually. Dwight took Jim under his wing when he started at Dunder Mufflin. As time progressed, Jim became more lazy and apathetic about his job, so Dwight just gave up on him. He knew Pam had something to do with it. All that time Jim spent at her desk could have been spent on making calls and improving his sales game, but he just was not interested. Must have lost his passion. With a sigh, Dwight rolled over, pushed his coworker out his brain, and fell asleep.

He woke up bright and early to the crow of his rooster like any regular morning. The cupcake party was on his mind while he made some coffee and then again when he was tending the beets. His mind even drifted to the party when he was reading the Battlestar Galactica forums that afternoon. The thought of being with Jim later made Dwight feel a little tinge of excitement. He rarely saw his friendemy outside of the office anymore. When the two were younger, they would frequently go to lunch and have drinks together after work. He would never admit it, but he missed the way they used to be. Maybe this party would kick-start some old feelings between them. Dwight could only hope.

A/N: This is my first fic for this pairing so go easy :) Constructive criticism is encouraged! I would love any feedback at all. Thanks!
