It wasn't always like this.
They wouldn't get into any kind of trouble since both were clever. But when they did, it was usually the stupid, loud mouthed red head who always ended up beaten.
"You really are an idiot. Why can't you ever listen to what I tell you?"
She just smirked and laughed weakly, choking on a small amount of blood. She normally would have made a smart remark, but she figured it could wait a bit longer once her wounds were looked at.
"I should have just left you there in the first place. They could have killed you, and I could have taken your heart with the bounty reward."
"Why didn't you?"
The tall tanned man just stopped there and stood quietly, as if he were thinking about how to respond. Or maybe he was getting even more pissed off..
".. You know why."
They both knew what he meant.
