A Clap of Thunder

A Host Club Fanfiction by Princess Amoretta

Lightning flashed through the sky, soon followed by a clap of thunder I knew all too well. I dove under the covers in fear. Of what? I do not know, but ever since my mother died I had been afraid of thunderstorms and lightning. Maybe because I thought it was God's way of saying, "Come out child, it's your turn," or maybe it was because loud noises just generally scare me. Whatever the reason, I really hate being scared of it; it makes me feel vulnerable and occasionally dependant on others.

Another clap of thunder rang through the apartment and I started whimpering despite my morals on how one should act. I really wished my dad were on his way home, though I knew he usually worked all night, or someone would cone to my rescue and help me get through this all.

I awoke with a start to the pounding of rain on my windows and the thunder outside. Thunder. My commoner friend! I jumped out of my bed, ran through the hall, dashed out the door, and ran down the streets. I knew where to go, even if it meant sprinting for 10 minutes, I turned a corner and there it was, her apartment complex. I tore up the stairs and bust open her door.

I heard someone inside my house and thought it was dad back from work early. I ran outside into the main room. Standing there was a heavily breathing, dripping wet man. I could not clearly tell who it was until the next lightning flash.

As the lightning flashed, she looked at me for a while and said, "Thank you," before coming into my waiting arms.

We stayed that way until the storm ended. Us together, Tamaki and Haruhi.
