As she entered the great hall for lunch, Luna had the feeling that she was being followed. She turned around to see Draco Malfoy looking at her with a somewhat worried expression.
"Hey Luna, how's that leg of yours?" he asked in a whisper.
"It's still quite sore, but I'm sure it will be all better in a week or so." she replied with a smile on her face.
2 days ago, Draco accidentally used a Trip Jinx on Luna, which was intentionally for Harry Potter. Now Draco feels pity for her because of her innocence and kindness, and now she has to suffer with a very painful injury. (she tripped down two steps of stairs which sprained her whole leg, including her ankle)
"Well, do you need help with those books of yours?" Draco asked, still whispering.
"No thank you, Draco. I'll be leaving them on the table while I eat so I don't think you need to carry them while I do."
"Oh right.. Okay, I'll be going to my table now, but if you need any help at all, let me know."
"Alright. By the way, why are you whispering?"
"Huh? Oh, uhh.." he spoke normally now.
"You don't want people to know your worried about me. That's all right, I understand." she said, still cheerful.
They both went to their table and began eating their lunch.
two hours later at the courtyard..
"Hey Luna, why was Malfoy talking to you? Did he say apologize?" asked Harry, as they walk around the courtyard with Ron and Hermione.
"No, he didn't apologize, but I he doesn't need to. I know how sorry he is already, he tries to assist me sometimes, so that's okay with me." replied Luna.
"He assists you?" asked Ron in disbelief.
"Yes, he's quite nice, very charming."
"Draco Malfoy? Charming? You MUST be joking!" said Hermione.
"Just because he acts like a brute around you doesn't mean he really is one. You know he only acts that way towards all of you because you're in Gryffindor. He's a very sweet guy once you get the chance to know him a bit more."
"Sure Luna.. Just be careful.." said Harry.
Luna left to go to her dormitory, but on the way..
"Hey Luna, come with me, I have to show you something.." Draco said in a whisper.
"Sure, but Draco, you don't have to whisper here. Nobody's around anyway."
*chuckles* "Alright then, let's go."
Draco brings Luna to a small garden filled with trees and berry-bushes and there, a blanket and a basket lay at the center with flowers.
"Surprise! It's the least I can do.." Draco said shyly.
"Oh Draco! You didn't have to! You're so sweet." Luna replied excitedly.
They both go and eat some scones and cupcakes Draco took from lunch and of course, some green apples. They washed it down with some earl grey tea, and lay down flat facing the sky together, watching the sun almost set..
"Luna, I'm very sorry for what I did. You know I didn't mean it.." he said sympathetically.
"Its alright Draco, even if you don't apologize I'll still forgive you." she turned to him smiling.
"That's good to know." he said smiling,"You look very beautiful in this light.."
*blushes* "Thank you.." Luna replied shyly.
"I don't think you know this but.. I've always liked you Luna.."
*blushes even more* "Really?" she asked in disbelief.
"Yes." Draco said.
Draco comes closer to Luna and gives her a soft kiss on the lips.
They both smiled afterwards and headed back to the castle holding each others hands knowing that this is a start of a beautiful friendship
