A/N: Drabble fic. Credz to mew-tsubaki, that founded this pairing. I don't own HP.
A world without you.
She never existed, so it was wrong for him to love her… wasn't it?
He remembered his first meeting with her. He was a new professor in a new country. He'd wandered off in the vast castle of Hogwarts, actually losing track of time. The paintings, the stories… each had its own tale. The odd knight and his fat pony, Valerie, the fruit basket down at the kitchens…
And then he saw her. A lovely woman, pudgy, perhaps, but no less a beauty. She smiled at him kindly and made conversation with him. She was always friendly to him. She shared with him the gossip of the student. Molly and an Arthur Weasley snuck out, the boy that attempted to set her on fire… when he later found that boy he gave him a month's worth of detention.
He grew old, and she never aged. She was perfect in his eyes.
And then he died.
But he didn't leave. His soul remained behind in the mortal world – he couldn't leave her. His love… but she was a portrait. How could he leave her? He was torn. Should he go on, or stay in the mortal world with her? She didn't even fully exist. She was a simple portrait. She would never age, or love him, what was he thinking?
A month after he died he faced her again.
"Binns? Is that you?"
He only nodded.
"I thought you were dead."
"I came back." He croaked.
"I was so scared I'd lost you forever…"
His head snapped up. Could it possibly be?
"Tell me, Binns, is it wrong to love you? Considering I am not entirely real."
"Nor am I now, my lady. I am merely a wandering soul."
"But you came back."
"Yes."
"Why? Were you afraid of death?"
"No." He chuckled. "I was afraid of a world without you."
A/N: I don't care, it was rather cute to me. Review please! Especially you, mew!
