He could hear her shouting at him, telling him to come back. Like hell he was going to go back. He was going to keep walking, and never look back. Just go where his feet led him..which..is…the graveyard. Without noticing, he had walked all the way to the front of his mother's grave.

"Hey mom," He said, sitting down at the base of the grave, and pulling his knees into himself. "I need your help. I-well I…" he started but couldn't think. He wrapped his arms around his knees, and buried his head into legs, thinking about what just happened…

'This is going to be a perfect night," He thought to himself. He was on his way to surprise Winry at home. She had no idea that he was coming home tonight. He had been away on military business for the past 2 months, but had been keeping in touch via letters, and they even talked on the phone when it was possible. They had been dating for about 2 years now, and they were getting pretty serious.

For the past two months, he had also been saving money, every penny he earned went into his savings. He was going to do it. He was going to ask Winry to marry him.

He could see it now, the Automail shop, Winry's home, where she lived with Granny Pinako. It was just a couple more minutes away, and he could just imagine the look on Winry's face when he walked inside. Walking up to the doorway, he knocked three times, then waited for someone to answer. Granny Pinako was the first one to the door, and her eyes widened when she saw who it was.

"Ed?"

"Hey Granny. Is Winry here? I need to ask her something," he asked, getting straight to the point.

"Um-" she was a bit startled by what he had asked. It was a bit sudden. No 'can i come inside?' or 'How have you been?'. "She's upstairs sleeping, I think. Long night, there was a new customer,"she said, opening the door a bit wider to let him in.

"Ok, well I'll just go wake her up and surprise her then," he said before walking up the stairs towards her room. Breathing in a deep breath to calm himself, he quietly opened the door.

"Winry," he whispered, as loud as whispering allowed him to, "guess who's-"

The last bit was cut off with a startled choke. There, lying next to Winry, in a deep sleep, was a man. A dark-haired stranger. He stalked over to the still sleeping Winry, and shook her awake. She opened her eyes slowly, blinking at the sudden light, then sat up suddenly seeing who was waking her up.

"Ed-"

"Who is this, Winry?" Edward asked, his voice dangerously low.

"Umm...this is...Ed I can explain-"

"Winry. Your sleeping in bed...with another man. What else is there to explain?" Then he swiftly turned around, heading towards the door.

"Ed! Edward!" she cried out to him. He could here her struggling to get untangled from the covers, but he wasn't listening, he had heard and seen enough.

That was what brought him here. In front of his mother's grave, silent tears running down his face.
