Castiel of Ercildoune
"Upon the edge of forest green,
Perchance you've walked, you may have seen,
Tiny rings of cloverleaf,
And dared not wonder what's beneath."
– 'The Faerie Chime', Caprice
Castiel had wandered alone for days through the depths of what seemed an endless forest until he came to the glade. He gazed in wonder at the beautiful, unearthly flowers giving off a heavenly scent and the tiny, glowing creatures floating in midair.
His arrival had not gone unnoticed.
"Hell-o, handsome."
Castiel turned at the sultry voice, surprised to see an inhumanly beautiful woman. She in turn made a visible double take. "Castiel? Brother, what calamity brings you to our Court?"
"Leannán?" Castiel croaked, his voice rough from disuse.
"Here, rest. I'll send for refreshments." She clicked her fingers and a small, misshapen figure sprang to her bidding.
Castiel took the proffered cup, but paused before it touched his lips.
"Don't worry about that," the sídhe snorted, "I can sense you're Fallen too; not some mortal plaything."
"They're our Father's favored creations..." growled Castiel, bristling at the scornful tone.
"Pfft! Don't speak of Him here. Besides, I hear you've not above a bit of toying with affections yourself."
Castiel flushed. "Thank you for your hospitality, but I should go."
"Wait, please. You were lost..."
"It would appear that I know where I'm going now," said Castiel, without a backward glance.
