The room was one of those in the Tardis that only the Doctor entered. The door was locked the key in his pocket.

He stood now in front the door, head bowed, mind turning over recent events. After a while he took out the key and opened the door

The room was not large, dimly lit and mostly empty. There were two spotlit areas in the center. One held a large book on a stand the other a small gong on a table.

Closing the door and locking it, the Doctor stood for a moment looking at the book.

Then turning to his left, he took a robe at random from ones hanging on the wall and put it on

Crossing to the book he ran his hand over it's ancient cover and then slowly opened it.

Names, it held names, thousands of names all written in the ancient script of Gallifrey.

He turned the pages, eyes scanning the lists of names. About three quarters of the way through, he started seeing ones he recognized. Now and then he would pause, finger resting on a name, remembering.

At last he came to a page with his name, his true name at the top. He ran his finger down the page, silently reading each name seeing the faces before him in his mind.

There was room at the bottom as he had remembered. Taking a stylus that laid next to the book he wrote in the ancient script

Jenny-Daughter

Born and died planet Messaline, date unknown.

He read over what he had written, smiling sadly and then closed the book and crossed to the gong.Taking up a hammer he struck it and cried out words in the tongue of his people.

After the sound died away, he took off and hung up the robe, unlocked the door, and left the room locking the door behind him and pocketing the key as he walked away.
