Author's Note: This is for Mr. Lestrange009's Bellatrix Competition.

Bellatrix stared at her sister as if she had never seen her before.

"You're in love with Rodolphus, and you want me to step aside so you can marry him?" she asked curiously.

Narcissa had never asked anything from her and although she was inclined to give her this one thing, she wouldn't. "Yes," Narcissa replied.

"What do you think will happen when Malfoy hears of this? You know that father has already arranged for you to marry Lucius, and I doubt that they would swap you for me," Bellatrix asked trying to get her sister to see sense. She wanted Narcissa to be happy; she was her sister after all. She just couldn't be happy with Rodolphus.

Narcissa's shoulders slumped. "I know they won't like it, but I don't love Lucius and I doubt I ever will," Narcissa admitted quietly.

"Marriage isn't always about love, Narcissa. Mother and father can barely stand each other but they married because it was their duty to, just like it is our duty to marry as well. Besides, the Dark Lord has paired Rodolphus and I together for missions. It means that he will be spending more time with me than you anyway, and you wouldn't want that would you? Think of the rumours that would start," Bellatrix said trying harder.

"Would you stop us Bella? After I have given Lucius his heir, would you stop us from being together then?" Narcissa asked lifting her head and looking directly into her sisters eye.

Bellatrix hesitated for a second. She wanted to say no more than anything, but she knew that it would be better to say yes. "I wouldn't stand in your way, but," she said as she saw the hope fill her sisters eyes, "I don't think that it would be a good idea. The Malfoy family are not ones to be crossed. You would risk losing everything including your child if they ever found out. You would be shunned from society and be worse off than Muggle scum."

"Why are you trying to stop this? What have you got against me being happy?" Narcissa asked angrily as tears threatened to spill down her face.

"I am not trying to stop you from being happy, Narcissa, but you have to think of the consequences of you actions. You know I'm right and that's why you're so upset. You know deep down that you will never be able to be with him without causing some kind of scandal and it won't be worth it after," Bellatrix responded.

Narcissa stood there sobbing as she realised that Bellatrix was right. She could never be with Rodolphus.

What she didn't know was the real reason why Bellatrix was so determined to make sure that they would never be together.

Rodolphus had revealed to her that while he felt affection for her sister, he wasn't in love with her the way she was him. He wanted her to make sure that Narcissa knew that there was no future for them, but not to reveal how he felt. It was pure luck that their father had arranged her marriage to Lucius at the same time which effectively ended any possibility of them being together.
