Peachy Skies and Apple Pies
When Marshal Lee noticed a lonely-looking Fionna on his way to a party, he paused. She sat under a lone apple tree with a somber, thoughtful look on her face. The vampire king became his equivalent of concerned. Since when did Fionna sit alone like that- almost as though she were moping? Circling slowly from the peach-colored sky, he came to float before her as nonchalantly as he could manage.
When she noticed him, she smiled up at him sweetly through a curtain of her long, golden hair. "Hi Marshal."
"Hey, Fifi," He replied, eyeing her curiously. "Everything peachy?" He glanced up at the red fruit around them and grinned at the irony.
Fionna smiled a little wider. "I suppose it's as peachy as it can be with so many apples around," She murmured passively.
"Then what are you sitting out here all lonely-like for?"
"Just thinking about Prince Gumball," The young warrior replied passively.
Marshal Lee scowled at the mention of the stuck-up candy prince. The wad seemed to be able to always put a damper on Fionna's usually happy-go-lucky mood. "Oh?" He said. The tone of his voice must have given his thoughts away, because Fionna gave a sweet, low laugh.
"No, no. Not like that, Marshal. I've just been thinking a lot. And I think I've realized that…" The young girl hesitated, then took a deep breath and drew herself up. "I've realized that Gumball just isn't the one." The moment the words left her mouth, Marshal noticed how much lighter she suddenly seemed.
"Well better late than never," He grinned, showing off the rows of sharp, white teeth. They glinted much like his eyes did when he purred, "We ought to go out and celebrate, little girl." He raised his eyebrows suggestively. He liked to party with the blonde warrior, even if she didn't know the various thoughts that went through his mind when they were together. After all, Fionna was an incredibly attractive girl, as well as having the greatest temperament. She was like a walking heart-throb, much like he was.
"Actually," Fionna said softly, "I'm really glad you're here Marshal."
"Oh?" Marshal repeated, intrigued. The vampire king glided steadily closer to the girl before their faces were mere inches apart and he could smell her earthen scent. "And why might that be?"
"… Well, because as I was thinking, I guess I kinda realized that it's not just Gumball." She began to smile wider. "I don't think there's a man alive who can handle me," Fionna murmured sheepishly, brushing away a strand of silken hair.
The vampire began to nod his head when it suddenly dawned on him what exactly Fiona had said to him. He looked at his friend hard. Such a good little girl- a sweet thing, really. Could he, Marshal Lee the Vampire King, really be thinking about dating the pure, incorruptible hero of Ooo? Hell yes.
"Well I can't say one of the living dead would be any better," He began cautiously. He almost died again when he saw how Fionna's face fell. "But if you're looking for one, look no farther." The vampire gave her another toothy grin as he winked at her. Fionna responded with a glowing smile, her blue eyes twinkling like the stars and her hair like harvest-moonlight. And he knew it was only something he could make her feel. So he couldn't resist the urge. Slowly, gently, Marshal Lee lent in close to Fionna, and as her hands found his, their lips puckered. He felt his undead heart beat for the first time in centuries when the blonde adventuress met his lips for the first time with a kiss that could rival all the happiness of the world.
