Blue Eyes Blue

He was fed up with the rejection, the constant regret he felt for wasting himself on her, as well as the sadness of unrequited love. It hurt everyday that she wouldn't let him close to her, hiding behind her rules and regulations, not allowing happiness for either one. It was tiring and he couldn't take anymore of it. It was time to move on from her, after all she had obviously let go of any thoughts of a relationship with him. He was sorry he had ever promised her that he would wait. He was sorry for trusting her, that she wouldn't give up the idea of 'them'. He was a fool and he knew it. She was only playing her games with his heart and feelings so that he would back off. She had never been serious.

Chakotay meditated. It was the only way he could let go of everything that had to do with her. It was his time to close the circle and move on from her to someone new, to let go of all his feelings and the emotions she stirred in him. He would always have a soft spot for her; after all for a while she had been his heaven, everything he thought wanted in a woman. When he rose, he felt cleansed, as though he had chased away every part of her that contaminated his heart and soul. For the first time in a while he felt true peace and happiness.

Walking to the bathroom, Chakotay mused on this peace. It felt wonderful and invigorating at the same moment. He quickly rinsed his face and got ready for bed. He gave himself one last glance in the mirror and was startled. Where his eyes had once been a deep brown, they were now a bright blue. It seems that he hadn't completely rid himself of her after all.

"Oh Kathryn, you broke my heart. You've made my eyes blue. I never should have trusted you." With a sigh he went to bed. His dreams were troubled for he knew that no matter how many times he meditated of tried to cleanse her from his heart and soul, she would always be there to remind him, that he truly did love her.

Blue Eyes Blue

By Eric Clapton

I thought you'd be loving me,

I thought you were the one, who'd stay forever,

But forever's come and gone and I'm still here alone.

You were only playing with my heart,

I was never waiting,

I was never waiting for the tears to start.

It was you,

Who put the clouds around me,

It was you,

Who made the tears fall down,

It was you,

Who broke my heart in pieces,

It was you,

It was you,

Who made my blue eyes blue,

I never should have trusted you.

I thought I'd be all you need

In your eyes I though I saw my heaven,

And now my heaven's come and gone away,

And I'm out here in the cold,

You had me believing,

You had me believing in a lie

Guess I couldn't see it,

Guess I couldn't see it till I saw good-bye,

It was you,

Who put the clouds around me.

It was you,

Who made the tears fall down.

It was you,

Who broke my heart in pieces.

It was you,

It was you,

Who made my blue eyes blue.

You were only playing,

You were only playing with my heart,

I was never waiting,

I was never waiting for the tears to start.

It was you,

Who put the clouds around me.

It was you,

It was you,

Who put the clouds around me,

It was you,

Who made the tears fall down.

It was you,

Who broke my heart in pieces,

It was you,

It was you,

Who made my blue eyes blue.

I never should have trusted you.

I never should have trusted you.

I never should have trusted you.

I never should have trusted you.
