Chapter 1 - Karu
His daemon was one of the reasons people rather saw him as being weak; a daemon reflected one's inner heart, after all, and what did it mean for Karu's personality if his daemon was so reclusive?
Because for a daemon to such a distant and indifferent boy, Yuuta was a surprisingly shy and uneasy creature, always burrowing deep into Karu's shirt or into pocket; never taking on a form larger than a ferret- and even then, it was a rare sight.
Yuuta didn't change often, just once a few days, and sometimes a week or so; but he rarely went back to a form he had taken before, almost as if he was testing them out one by one, but never finding one right for him.
After Karu was killed and reincarnated as the Ghost Ea, Yuuta started to tentatively take on larger forms, no longer hiding away unseen but sometimes perched on his master's shoulder as a bird, or even on some occasions padding by his side as a young fox.
But it wasn't until years later that he found his true form.
"I'm Landkarte- pleased to meet you!"
"I want to make a world without hatred... just like you."
"But I'm powerless, alone. I need your power."
And- as if to echo his new-found determination, Yuuta had transformed into a gray and brown canine, fierce and powerful.
It had been the first time he had tried out such a bold form- and the daemon had been as surprised as his master.
And then, a week later, they had realized Yuuta couldn't change back.
Karu's Dæmon

A/N - I was surprised when I realized that no-one had written a fic for this before, and because of that, I decided to stick my hand in and put a daemon fic here.
This was originally made so I could have a better insight into a younger Karu, but I decided that I would continue it into a collection of all the characters.
EDIT - Well, it's revamped, and I can say that I've changed... a lot of things. (haha) Well, ping for a character you want done! (I'll do every character, eventually, but there are lots of characters, and it'll take a long time)
Also- I'd be really glad if you reviewed, I really want to improve my writing, and I'll give you virtual cookies! Even if it's a word or two, then it'll definitely cause chapters to roll out of me faster (reviews = confidence, but not necessarily inspiration, but I'll certainly try -_^).
