Stone Cold Crazy

SPN-100-Drabble-Challenge, word: Three. Three times. 300 words.

Summary: The Winchesters have encountered lots of ridiculous monsters, but that takes the cake. You just can't trust Disney anymore…

A/N: Speaking of – thanks to Dizzo for providing us with such a pretty challenge – and a great new year to all of you :-)

"So…", Dean loosened his tie and crashed on the motel bed, "we basically have three victims torn to human confetti and the only witness is gibbering about a huge creature with wings and fangs and talons like a human-sized bat?"

He choked on his beer with a sudden laughter.

"I knew it! Batman is real. And we're going to hunt him down. This is just…"

"…wishful thinking, Dean", replied his killjoy of a brother, typing his way through the local history, newspapers and lore.

"You've gotta be kidding me", he groaned.

"What?"

Sam turned the screen to his brother.

"Gargoyles?"

After a heated discussion, two calls to Bobby and a midnight-visit at the next hunting shop they searched for cover at the old churchyard.

"Alright, it's gonna be as easy as one-two-three," Dean mumbled, checking his brand-new crossbow for the umpteenth time.

Sam counted the silver bullets, nervously biting his lip.

"If we only knew for sure…"

A screeching scream killed the silence, accompanied by the leathery flapping of huge wings that made the reptilian part of their brains cringe in a sudden urge to flee.

The brothers stood back-to-back, aiming bolts and bullets towards creatures made from medieval nightmares.

"Bloody Hell", the Gargoyle-gutting Hero groused when Sam attended his bums and cuts. The churchyard looked as if two tornados had met and partied. Shattered sandstone dotted the graves and the grass in the early morning light. A frozen grin here, a single paw there – Bobby had been right. Killing the fuglies in flight reversed the spell and turned them back to stone. Three of them ended up in pieces the moment they touched ground. The last one regretted that he didn't.

"To think that I liked 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame'", Dean said sulkily.

His brother keeled over laughing.
