(A/N: This is a poem I wrote for a project we are doing in a writing class in school. Based on The Magic Box by Kit Wright. Enjoy and please review!)

The Magic Box

Based on Kit Wright's Magic Box

I will put in my box

The smell of

The crisp morning

Near the water

The smell of

The chilly dew

On the cool grass

I will put in my box

The sweet stench

Of a flower

Crumpled so that its colors

Blend together into one mixture

I will put in my box

The thundering splash

Of water

Against the soft sand

I will put in my box

The whoosh

Of the wind

Through the tall evergreen trees

On top of the mountain

I will put in my box

The soft rustling

Of wanderers

Moving through the bushes

And the slip

Of someone sliding

Across the damp, slick rocks

I will put in my box

The glow of the grass

On a dark day

With a ray of sunlight

Beaming through the treetops

I will put in my box

The sorrow of the dusk

When all of the beautiful spirits of the earth

Rise to the heavens

Preparing for nightfall

In my box I will put

The feeling of lying on the wet ground

With my eyes closed.

The gray sky filled with clouds

And the pouring, cool rain chilling my senses

In my box I will put

The gusts of wind

Blowing against my face

As I run through

A never ending meadow of nothing,

Trying to reach my unknown destination,

But the wind holding me back

My box is made of

Silver and rain,

With everything made from dreams

To keep the box from collapsing.

The corners and creases

Held together

With love and clouds

The sides

Plastered with old photographs

Of the simplicity of someone's life long ago

Friends

Keep the box stable

At the base

A window

To another day,

Another world

Silently sits inside,

But this is what I must search for

On my journey inside my box

In my box,

I will fly away through the wind

To a warm beach,

With a heated chill

Running down my spine

As I watch the water gently move with the wind

I will sway

To the music of silence,

The music of the sun

About to lower on the horizon,

Twilight approaching.

In my box

I will dance

On the cool sand

Moving with the trees,

The water,

And the sun

I will dive

Deep into the sea,

Far enough where the sun should not be visible,

But it glows brightly around

The colorful life below me

I will soar

High above the earth,

Above everything

I will sit

Upon a cloud

And view the natural beauty below,

As I slowly drift

Into a place unknown
