"Nii-san!"
`Great, now what does he want?`
Ragna has been taking care of his little sister, Saya, when his brother, Jin had burst through the door. Again.
`Let me guess, he wants me to play with him.` Ragna thought.
Jin has been bugging him to play with him, but he always said no for the simple fact that their little sister was sick. It's Ragna's job as the oldest of the three to take care of them.
`Maybe I should have Jin help me take care of her from time to time. I wonder if that'll work.`
Being the oldest of them next that he had to more work than them. Even though the nun is their caretaker, she can't do much because of her age. And so, it's up to him to get food and water.
`Wait, that's it!` Ragna thought.
Since he's not around all the time, he won't be able to take care of Saya all the time. But Jin can. Maybe he can get Jin to take care of Saya while he's out for food and water. And while he's around, he could get Jin to help him take care of Saya when he is. It could also help improve their relationship with each other!
`Now if I can just get Jin to agree.` He thought.
And it was that moment that he realized that he had been in a thinking position about halfway through his thoughts and that Jin was looking at him funny.
"Hey, Jin." said Ragna.
"Yes, Nii-san?" asked Jin.
"How would you feel if I wanted you to help me take care of Saya?" asked Ragna.
"Huh?" said Jin.
"I won't be able to be around to take care of her myself all the time, so why not help take care while I'm out?" asked Ragna.
"A-Are you really trusting me with that kind of responsibility?" asked Jin in a surprised voice.
Ragna's response was simply "Yes."
He could tell that Jin didn't know what to do, so he walked up him and took him by the hand to lead him to a sleeping Saya's bed. When they were in front of it, Jin saw how small and fragile Saya looked, he couldn't help but feel like an utter jerk. She was sick and he wanted to play with the only other person that could take care of her? He looked at his brother, who was waiting for an answer.
"Nii-san." He said. "I want to help her."
Ragna looked at him, smiling and said, "Thank you."
And after that, everything was better. Jin helped Ragna take care of Saya, as well as whenever Ragna had to go hunting for meat and berries and fetch some water. All in all, their family was closer than before, all because of a question.
