Overhead the stars rushed by the skylight above her bed. Shepard laid sprawled out on her bed. Her long red hair, loosed from it's braid, curled around her face and across her pillow. She didn't have to look at the clock on the bedside table to know it was late or early depending on how you looked at it.

Taking in a deep breath, the clean smell of Kaidan's soap filled her head. He laid on the bed next to her, occasionally snoring. It was strange, she thought. This room had never felt like home before. When she had been trying to take down the Collectors, she hadn't spent much time up here. She had spent most of her time either with Garrus or Tali. Occasionally she would sit up with Joker. But rarely had she spent much time in her quarters. She had slept up here usually. She laughed softly. A few nights, she had slept in the observation deck before Samara had joined them. Even on one memorable night, that she didn't remember with perfect clarity, she had passed out on the floor in the Medbay with Chakwas.

Now with Kaidan here, sleeping in the same bed with her. She actually wanted to go to sleep. Wanted to curl up next to him and burrow her face into his neck, relaxing into his hold. Now that he was here, she was home.
