Duo looked at Heero, then sighed as he fell asleep holding him. Heero echoes the sigh and closes his eyes.
*And it's hard to hold a candle - in the cold November rain*
Duo sat on the bed as Heero packed a bag, the next lines of the song echoing their conversation. Duo spoke first, a tired, melancholy Duo, far from the one the world usually saw. "We've been through this such a long long time - Jus' tryin to kill the pain - But lovers always come and lovers always go - and no one's really sure who's lettin go today - Walkin away"
Heero spoke softly, eyes shining with unshed tears. " I f we could take the time to lay it on the line - I could rest my head knowing you were mine - All mine -" Duo flinched, the subtle reminder of infidelity a low blow, but one he hasn't forgiven himself for. Heero continued." So if you want to love me - Then darlin don't refrain - Or I'll just end up walkin - In the cold november rain-" When Duo makes no motion to stop him, Heero kisses Duo's cheek and walks out into the pouring rain, hailing a taxi quickly. Duo walks over to the window and presses his forehead agains the glass. The song continues as his violet eyes shed liquid crystal, matching the window in front of him. " Do you need some time on your own - Do you need some time all alone - Everybody needs sometime on there own" His laptop beeps in the corner, and Duo wearily answers it. He half hoped for a mission, a chance to go blow stuff up to match the seething hole in his heart. The message was from a secure line, so it was opened and violet eyes widened at the message. " I know it's hard to keep an open heart - When even friends seem out to harm you - But if you could heal a broken heart - Wouldn't be time out to charm you - Sometimes I need some time on my own - Sometimes I need some time all alone - and when your fears subside - And shadows still remain - I know that you love me - When there's no one else to blame - So never mind the darkness - We can still find a way - Cause nothin lasts forever - Even cold November rain." Duo typed a message back, thoughtfully. "Don't ya think you need somebody - Don't you think you need some one - You're not the only one." A reply came back faster than Duo thought possible. "You're not the only one" And the November rain flew thick from storm-purple skies.
