Secrets Are Best Kept in the Dark.
A/n: I've always wanted to do a crossover, so hopefully this fic is unique enough from the others on the website to keep from being cliche. I can't promise that it'll be all pretty and perfect, especially since I don't have a beta and I'll be writing this on my phone most of the time. I just hope you'll be patient and please, constructive criticisms only. I'll revise tomorrow, I promise.
On a sweltering summer's eve, the leader of the Land of Fire's only hidden village was stuck in his office, as per usual. What was unusual about this day was the fact that he wasn't slacking off or working on paper work. Instead, a woman sat before him, radiating an aura of elegance and serenity. Her pale white skin and floor length black hair were not common traits of Konoha's residents, nor were the make and design of her kimono.
Most of his subordinates would be aghast at the way she presented herself, lax against the side of the chair and smoking a thin, wood pipe; but the Dimensional Witch was no ordinary contact.
Smiling wryly from behind his mask, the Lord Sixth Hokage, Hatake Kakashi, placed down the scroll his visitor had presented to him after their greetings. "I take it this is a job that isn't to be refused?" Even as he spoke his words aloud, he knew what the answer would be. Konoha was indebted to her, and the need for the reward proposed was too great to even think of refusing. Resigned, he continued to speak. "I will accept this client. Please arrange for the payments to be sent regularly on the agreed upon dates, and I will send a squad of nin to you within the next three hours for the details and needed supplies. Is that acceptable, Yuuko?"
After taking in a languid breath of smoke, she inclined her head to him in a gesture of acceptance. "I will make your terms known to the client. Consider a debt paid." With a smile not unlike that of a Cheshire cat's, the woman made her exit with a descending swirl of whites and blacks, sucking her in and disappearing in seconds flat. His gaze stayed on the chair for a few seconds more before he blinked, as if coming to from a trance.
Quickly summoning one of the chunnin outside his office, Kakashi scribbled down his orders onto a blank scroll, it's black lining symbolizing the importance of its contents. "Send this to Anbu Captain Fox via messenger hawk." He wasted no words, gesturing for his non to leave the office on his errand. While it wouldn't seem like the meeting with the Witch had been anything out of the ordinary, it was honestly a bit of an pain in the neck for him. He certainly wasn't happy to send any of his nin into a foreign world for a year, especially with their only means of travel and communication relying on an eccentric shop keeper. Even so, her services were invaluable to the Hokage before him, and it is well known that to double cross her when their wishes have already been granted was near suicide. All services must be paid after all. Whether it is in favors or force makes no difference.
With a groan at all the headaches this job would cause, his hands pulling out an Icha Icha book from underneath his desk. Perhaps Tsunade had it right with her hidden alcohol stash...
