This is a totally random oneshot that somehow came to me... Something like it has already probably been done, but I'm putting it up here anyway. So, enjoy.

Drowning Out The Thunder

By Pwnguin

Lilly sighed at the rain pelting on her bedroom window. Today, of all days, there had to be rain. Everything was falling apart. Lilly sighed into her pillow and listened to the thunder. It scared her, and more then ever, she was wishing he was here.

Lilly sobbed into her hands, the sounds of them drowning out the thunder. She didn't want to stop crying.. she didn't want to hear the thunder.

Lilly dried her tears and grabbed her cellphone sitting on her bedside table. No new calls, no new texts, nothing.

Suck it up, Lilly.

Lilly dried her face and headed downstairs. If she wanted to have fun today, she was going to do that. Even if it meant doing it herself.

She grabbed the chocolate ice cream and spooned the rest of the carton into the bowl. Then she topped it with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. Looking at her creation made her sick already, but she grabbed a spoon anyway and began to eat the thousand calorie snack. Her mouth was pleased at the sugary goodness. Then she grabbed the remote of the stereo and turned on the music loud.

Life's what you make it, so let's make it right.

The beat of the music made Lilly's insides want to jump. She used the remote as a microphone and lip synched to her friend's voice. She found herself smiling.

Maybe this day won't be so bad after all.

Suddenly, the lightning cracked, and made the whole house dark.

Lilly dropped onto the floor. She had always been afraid of the dark. Tears were once again forming in her eyes.

Worst day of my life.

Lilly slowly walked around the living room and found a flashlight. She flicked it on, and noticed a shadow at her door. The figure tapped on the door loudly. It called, "Lilly! Open up!" She thought she recognized the voice.

Why is he here?

Slowly approaching it, she opened the door.

"Lilly!"

"Oliver?" Lilly dried her tears and spoke, "What are you doing here?" She noticed his hair and clothes were soaking wet. She let Oliver in to dry off.

"What do you mean, 'What am I doing here'? I should be here. You know why, Lilly?" Oliver called through the darkness.

"Why? Oliver! It was pouring out there, and you walked all the way! Are you stupid?!" Lilly cried.

"No. You know today's special, Lilly." Oliver said. Lilly wasn't even sure where he was through the dark.

"I thought you forgot." Lilly said so quietly she didn't hear herself.

"How could I forget?" Oliver said.

Lilly blurted out what had happened all day, "Today, of all days, it rains. I get no calls, no texts, no nothing. My parents are on some business trip and forgot. I was just beginning to think that all the people I cared about forgot about today. I thought everyone didn't care about today cause I'm stupid or soemthing. Well, Oliver, that's why I thought you forgot. I thought you didn't care. I thought you didn't care about the girl who has known you for... forever." Lilly could barely hear herself over the thunder. She let out a small whimper, but Oliver still heard. Lilly felt a hand on her shoulder.

"Lilly.. the only way that you are stupid at the moment is thinking that I would ever forget today."

Lilly whimpered over the thunder, and the fact that she had thought such silly things.

"Don't be afraid, Lilly. Pretend you can't hear the thunder. Pretend the storm isn't happening." Lilly felt Oliver's wet clothes against hers. He was holding her close.

Lilly shut her eyes and tried to drown out the rain, the lightning, and the thunder. All was silent.

Then she felt his cold lips on hers. Lilly's eyes had formed tears once again. She didn't want this moment to end. But it did, and Lilly wanted to cry at Oliver's next words.

"Happy birthday, Lilly."
