Okay. I think Carter rocks. I just hope I'm not the only one who thinks so or this fic ain't gonna fly.

The Day the Church Closed

Her scent was warm.

Carter's back was stiff. He groggily opened his eyes. Another night spent sleeping on the futon on the pastor's side of the confessional. He wished, just once, that he could spend the night on an actual mattress.

Her eyes were as orange as the fall colors.

The early morning produced no sunlight through the church window. Only the leaves, colored with fall, showed through the glass pane. Carter loved the fall. That meant that there was food in the garden.

Her hair was silky and feathery. A shade of earthy brown.

Carter lifted himself from bed. The air was stiff and chilled. He wished that he had put on a shirt.

Her skin was soft. Kissed from the sun.

Carter wasn't as old as everyone figured. In fact, he was only 28. He was a kind man. The children loved him. He wasn't incredibly attractive but definitely not un-attractive. He was just Carter.

Her lips were a natural pink.

He put on his swamp green sweater and the pastor's coat over it. He never liked the idea of buttoning his coat. It seemed so constricting, so binding. As if it was holding him back. Maybe it was…

Her smile was sad and inviting.

Cliff. Such a sad boy. Or he was. Until the new farmer came. She helped Cliff through his problems and even found him a job. Now they were married and neither of them could be happier. Ann is even dating the farmer's older brother, Jack. Doctor was in love with Elli and even proposed the week before. Rick and Karen have been married. Same with Kai and Popuri. They were the first to be married.

Her walk was smooth and flowing.

Everyone was married and in love, or at least married and in love at one time. Not Carter. Not, at least until he met Serenity.

She was beautiful in her own way. Perfect in her imperfections. Carter loved her.

He looked at his wear. His shirt was inside out for some reason. He striped it and turned it rightside in.

The Church door creaked open. "Carter? Carter are you in here?"

"I'm in the confessional!" he called back.

The same pair of sunset orange eyes he so loved appeared through the confessional door, then hastily removed themselves. "S…Sorry…"

"Serenity?"

Serenity gulped, "Yes, Carter."

Carter took a deep, internal breath. "It's alright. I feel comfortable around you."

He happened to glance at the door to see the orange eyes attached to a lovely, heart shaped face. "I feel the same way."

Instantaneously, Carter dropped his shirt and yanked Serenity's wrists hard. Her body crashed into his…

…This was the first time that the church was ever closed.

Wow that was almost a lime. O.o

So? How was it? I always liked Carter and thought he should be a bachelor because he is so cheerful and kind. Review if you don't mind. I'd like to turn this into a series one day.
