Kai sat on the rugged couch, eyeing the window. Aichi had disappeared, and although Kai had collected what he called 'mates', he had the least idea of what to do now, except wait and see how everything played out. He glanced at the coffee table. On top of it lay a small package of sweets.
Aichi had given the candy to him before all traces of his existence were extinguished.
"Take it, Kai kun. This is for you." Kai still remembered Aichi's bright smile, and unable to turn down the offer, he took the small box, smiling in gentle amusement.
Kai almost wished that Aichi never gave him the candy, because it seemed like a goodbye gift and made Kai miss Aichi horribly. Grabbing the package, He unraveled the ribbon that was tied on it and peeked inside. In the box was delicately wrapped hard milk candy.
Kai took one and popped it in his mouth, and spit the wrapper out (He had forgotten to unwrap the candy). The brunet smiled at the flavor. It was sweet, but not too sweet, and had an erotic touch, giving it just the right taste. He sucked on it, playing with it in his mouth with his tongue, savoring the flavor, as he continued to ponder about the situation he was in.
Now that Aichi was gone, almost all of Kai's happiness was burned out. He wanted to go to Aichi and ask why he left so badly, it was starting to drive him insane. Kai's tongue felt numb with disappointment as he finished the candy, and decided to eat another one.
All the memories they shared, Aichi didn't want them to end, or did he? Honestly, The brunet thought he got Aichi frustrated and angry with ignoring him and betraying him. He understood that Aichi would probably want to unaccompany such a jerk, yet he still couldn't fathom anything.
Aichi said he would be by his side forever.
Yet he broke that promise.
Kai kept supplying his mouth with sweets as they were slowly disappearing under his tongue, trying to chew it with the left side of his teeth only to get a hurting jaw. The candy reminded Kai of Aichi, sweet but not easy to destroy, and he desperately wanted to embrace Aichi and breathe in his soothing scent.
His hand dug around the box, hunting down the last pieces of the small dessert as he looked blankly at the ceiling. Perhaps it was like what they say, that good things eventually run out, though he never imagined Aichi would be that good thing.
He wanted his happiness to last forever.
But all good things eventually run out.
He reached his hand in the box, only to find that he had run out of candy.
