"Legend has it that there is a hermit in the Spine, he is said to be extremely tall, strong and impossible to track. He is notorious for helping lost people out by creating paths that cross the entire area. They have never led anybody to his residence though. The hermit is said to be dead, as nobody has been rescued in over three-hundred years. Even the dragon riders were not able to find a trace of him. The mystery surrounding his fate has led to many incursions into the Spine. Everybody that entered the Spine in search of him came back, driven insane by some unknown means. They hadn't been touched by magic and were talking, blabbering even about a man, taller than the tallest Kull and strong enough to rip out trees, fast enough to disappear into the night in seconds and encased in intricate armor with no opening to see out of.

We don't know if this is true or not, all that came back said the same, again and again.

A message to all who oppressed others, used them, enslaved them, killed them, who used others powers to rule.

When you think you've won.

When you think you have no enemies.

I will be there.

When you think your safe.

When you think you have control.

I will be there.

When you think you have power.

When you believe your own lies.

When your downfall arrives.

I will be there.

When you have died.

When you cease to exist.

I will be there.

I lurk in the shadows.

I am death itself,

silent.

untraceable.

inescapable.

I will find you, you will meet me.

You will DIE.

"And so the years passed and less men went into the Spine. It was deemed too dangerous."
