WAKE UP

Author's Note: This is a songfic with events leading up to Epiphany. Some scenes were of my own doing. You won't find them in any episode aired. It's my first songfic, so please be gentle in the review. I'm not a really big fan of songfics, but I just had to write this one. I hope it's worth reading.
Parts of it are how Cordelia views the people and events in her life. The other parts are just songfic. The song "Wake Up" is by Alanis Morisette, on the album Jagged Little Pill.

You like snow but only if it's warm (Bird's eye view of L.A.)
You like rain but only if it's dry (The camera zooms in to move around the building and busy people in the streets. A poster of a half naked model for Victoria's Secret is shown through a display window half obscured by snow.)
No sentimental value to the rose that fell on your floor
(Angel giving away Cordelia's clothes.)
No fundamental excuse for the granted that I'm taken for
(Various scenes of Angel becoming colder and colder to Cordelia leading up to him firing her.)

'Cause it's easy not to (Angel sitting at the now empty Hyperion, brooding in the dark.)
So much easier not to (A slight tremor goes through him.)
And what goes around never goes around to you

You like pain but only if it doesn't hurt too much
(Lindsey in To Shanshu in L.A., ready to fight Angel, then getting his hand chopped off.)

You sit...and you wait...to receive
(Holland smiling benevolently at Lindsey as he confronts him about his allegiance with Angel in Blind Date.)

There's an obvious attraction
To the path of least resistance in your life
(Lindsey walks to the doors of what could be his new office in Blind Date and closes them with him inside.)
There's an obvious aversion no amount of my insistence could make you try tonight
(He takes the phone off the hook, and turns his chair to brood. Cut to Angel brooding in the same position in the Hyperion.)

'Cause it's easy not to
(Faith gets off the bus and robs a stranger of their money.)
So much easier not to
(Cut to scene with her dancing in the nightclub.)
And what goes around never goes around to you
To you to you to you to you to you... (Lindsey, Lilah, and Lee hiring Faith to kill Angel.)

There's no love (Wesley after Virginia broke up with him.) no money (Cordelia, Wesley, and Gunn trying to fix up their new office after Angel fired them.) no thrill anymore (Angel grimly fighting demons in the sewers, his face stony.)

There's an apprehensive naked little trembling boy
With his head in his hands
(Lindsey at his desk, ready to crack, looking over files with his elbows on the desk, clutching his head.)

There's an underestimated and impatient little girl
Raising her hand
(Lilah at a board meeting, hesitantly making a proposition.)

But it's easy not to (Lindsey and Lilah's expensive cars are shown sitting in Wolfram & Hart's basement parking place.)
So much easier not to
(A peek into their wallets and their credit cards.)
And what goes around never goes around to you
To you to you... (Lee being shot by his own law firm. Faith in jail. Lindsey staring sadly at his guitar sitting in the closet.)

Get up get up get up off of it
(Angel finds out about the 'home office' and walks home.)
Get up get up get up off of it (Angel throws Darla to the floor.)
Get up get outta here enough already
(Angel having sex with Darla in an animal-like manner, hoping to lose his soul.)
Get up get up get up off of it (Darla clearly enjoying it.)

Wake up (Angel suddenly jerks awake in bed with Darla beside him.)

So? Tell me what you think. Constructive criticism only please.
