The Herald

One summer's day, I walked to Skyhold,
To see a lady in that fortress of old,
Who was this Inquisitor and why was she here?
Was she Herald or fraud? I had to make clear.

I met three on the path: dwarf, elf, and man,
To go to that fortress was also their plan,
And so I did ask, "Why make this journey?
Do you seek this Herald? Is that why you hurry?"

The dwarf was small but of rugged physique,
He said, "I do not know of this 'Herald' you speak.
Is she the same champion who saved our kingdom?
She braved deepest depths. To serve her is welcome."

The elf turned to me. Her sweet smile was true.
She said, "I do not follow Andraste, like you.
But with this noble lady, my gifts I will share,
For she helped my people when the world did not care."

The man was Tevinter. His scars I could see.
He said, "The lady ahead means so much to me.
I was unjustly enslaved, and she freed me to live.
From this day forward my life I will give."

I realized then that my quest did not matter,
Herald or no, the people did love her.
So together we walked, us four joined in song,
And the spirit of Andraste, I knew it was strong.
